Post Game Report: Reno Pond Hockey VS Desert Dogs

Last night Reno Pond Hockey faced off with the Desert Dogs. Reno Pond Hockey kept it close. Reno Pond Hockey struggled to keep the lead when they had the lead. They never regained the lead after losing it. The game was close until the very end. With under 2 minutes to go in the game Reno Pond Hockey was going on the power play. Before the puck dropped on the power play Reno Pond Hockey was given a penalty. With that penalty the top 3 scorers for Reno Pond Hockey were absent from the game with under 2 minutes to go with the team only down by one goal.

One of the top Reno Pond Hockey players was ejected with under 6 minutes to go in the first for “fighting”. One of the Desert Dogs players charged at him, pushes him down and puts him in a headlock. Both players were ejected for fighting. On replay it looks unprovoked, the Reno Pond Hockey player also looks like he didn’t retaliate at all. He just kind of let it happen got up and walked away. The ref who kicked out the Reno Pond Hockey player said that he kicked him out because he wouldn’t let the Desert Dogs player go. That doesn’t line up with replay though. He then admitted to me after the game that he didn’t see the play while it was happening. The other player was out of the game because coincidental roughing penalties were called. Both players were sent to the locker room. After they both were sent to the locker room something happened under the bleachers. I don’t know what happened I didn’t see it.

*The stats aren’t 100% accurate. The league is still figuring stuff out.
