I am putting together a new concept series. This one is for the Reno Ice Adult League. The league is a co-ed recreational league based in Reno Nevada. The league has 3 divisions (which are commonly referred to as leagues), A Division, B Division, and C division. There are a total of 26 teams. I will be doing concept logos and uniforms for each team. This is a real league. The league does play at Reno Ice.
Main League Logo
The above image is what I came up with for a league logo for the Reno Ice Adult League. The logo abbreviates Reno Ice Adult League to RIAL. I went for a modern look for the logo. The background shape is the same as an ice rink. The blue tones are the same as the rink uses in their logos. I added silver to help create that modern sports league look. I also made this logo with the intention that it would be put into each teams colors. Similar to how the MLB and MLS logos are used.
Alternate League Logos
I made these logos with the intention of having retro or vintage logos with a variation on the primary logo. The first two of these logos are inspired by the International Hockey League. The shield logo works as a 70’s and 80’s style logo. The middle logo works as a 90’s and 2000’s logo. These logos main purpose would be merchandising but could also work for retro or vintage team jerseys.
I created these logos for the 3 divisions (which are commonly referred to as leagues), A Division, B Division, and C division. I kept the style, colors and overall look similar to the main logo. I think the main use these logos would serve is on the league website and social media. I don’t think that these logos would go on jerseys. They could be used on merchandise.
For this concept I will be splitting B-League into four divisions. I made these logos for that. I named the conference after nearby cities, reagins, and the state. I colored the logos based off of the same city, state, and region flags. I tried to keep the modern look along with keeping similar branding elements as the main logo.
The current league structure is 12 regular season games with league playoffs following the end of the regular season. The 12 games are not played over 12 consistent weeks. The playoff format has not been announced yet. So, I made some up. The only changes I am making for this concept are:
- I am adding 4 divisions to B League
- Each division will have 4 teams
- The divisions are Reno Div., Sparks Div., Tahoe Div., Nevada Div.
- The B league schedule will change from random games to 6 division games and 6 non-division games
- One home and one away game with each team in the division
- 3 home and 3 away games with 6 different non-division teams
- First 3 and last 3 games will be divisional games
Post Season Formats
In each league, post season games that is played outside of the league championship game is a bowl game. The playoffs, league championship and bowl games should be sponsored. For example: the RIAL A League Mercedes-Benz Playoffs, RIAL A League Mercedes-Benz championship (AKA just the Mercedes-Benz championship), The Little Caesars Bowl (the RIAL A League third place game), the Auto Zone Bowl (the RIAL consolation game).
There are 6 teams in A League. Teams 1 through 4 will make the playoffs. The playoffs will be best of 1. The winning teams from the first round of the playoffs play in the league championship. The losing teams play in a third-place bowl game. Teams 5 and 6 plays in a consolation bowl game.
There are 16 teams in B League. Those teams are divided up into 4 divisions. The playoffs are also divided into 4 single game elimination tournaments. All of the teams that won their division play in the first tournament. All of the teams that came in second in their division play in the second tournament. All of the teams that came in third in their division play in the third tournament. All of the teams that came last in their division play in the fourth tournament. The winners of the first round in the first tournament go into the league championship. The winners from the other tournaments play in whichever tournament finals. The teams that lost in the first-round play in bowl games.
There are 4 teams in C League. All of the teams will make the playoffs. The winners of the first-round play in the league championship. The Losing teams play in a third-place bowl game.
