Post Game Report: Reno Pond Hockey VS Remo Sriracha

Reno Pond Hockey took on Remo Sriracha in their last game. It was game 10 for Reno Pond Hockey. There are now only 1 games left in the regular season for Reno Pond Hockey. The game took place on December 10, 2021 at 10:30PM at Reno Ice. The original start time was 10:00PM. The start time was pushed back due to the “Christmas Show On Ice” (figure skating show) ran late.

Reno Pond Hockey was coming off of a 5-4 win against 4 Seasons. Reno Pond Hockey was 5-4-0. Reno Pond Hockey sat in 4th place in the standings. Remo Sriracha were coming off of a 10-2 win against Q&D Construction. Remo Sriracha were 5-4-0. They were in 5th place. Reno Pond Hockey played Remo Sriracha back on July 17th. Reno Pond Hockey lost that game 5-11.

Remo Sriracha scored first. They took a 1-0 lead going into the second period. Reno Pond Hockey scored the only two goals in the second period. #71 Dominic Hyer scored the tying goal. He almost scored the second goal, it stopped on the goal line and #28 Zac Seidemann put it in the net. Remo Sriracha had two unanswered goals in the third period. They would put the game away with a goal in the final minute of play.

It was a close game and hard fought for on both sides. Reno Pond Hockey made some mistakes and stopped skating in the third period. We had poor passing all game. We weren’t taking shifts right. We were taking bad changes. We were taking long shifts. We just weren’t playing as well as we had in our last two games. There were a lot of plays where guys were just standing around and not in the play. I was really upset with my performance at the end of the game. I was out of position a lot. I gave up control of the puck leading to the 4th Remo Sriracha goal. At this point there is no time to dwell on this loss as we have a game coming up Monday.

*The stats aren’t 100% accurate.

Reno Pond Hockey is currently in a playoff spot. The race is close enough that one game could change that. If Reno Pond Hockey wins Monday they will clinch a playoff spot. Reno Pond Hockey and the Tahoe Storm are tied with 10 points. Both teams are 5-5-0. A win would eliminate the Tahoe Storm. The Slappy Gilmores are in 6th with 10 points. If the Slappy Gilmores lose their final regular season game against the Desert Dogs, Reno Pond Hockey could still make the playoffs even after a loss. 4 Seasons, Desert Dogs, Blue Moon, and Tahoe Dawgs all have a chance to get 10 points. If Reno Pond Hockey loses their are 5 other teams that could take that 6th playoff spot.
