Post Game Report: Reno Pond Hockey VS Tahoe Storm

Reno Pond Hockey took on Tahoe Storm last night. It was game 11 for Reno Pond Hockey. It was the last game of the regular season. The game took place on December 13, 2021 at 10:30PM at Reno Ice.

Reno Pond Hockey was coming off of a 2-4 loss to Remo Sriracha. Reno Pond Hockey was 5-5-0. Reno Pond Hockey sat in 5th place in the current standings. The Tahoe Storm were coming off of a 1-0 win against Q&D Construction. The Tahoe Storm were also 5-5-0. They won one game in their last five heading into this game. They were in 6th place. Reno Pond Hockey played The Tahoe Storm back on June 30th. Reno Pond Hockey lost that game 2-12.

The Tahoe Storm Scored first. They took a 1-0 lead after the period. They then scored four unanswered goals in the second. Reno Pond Hockeys #8 Marty Harsin would scored Reno Pond Hockeys first goal. The he took the puck into the zone. He fought off his defender with one hand. He then headed towards the net and puck the puck in the back of the net. It was probably the goal of the season. The Tahoe Storm would go on to score 5 more goals. Reno Pond Hockey would get the last goal of the game. #28 Zac Seidemann took the puck into the offensive zone. He passed it to #71 Dominic Hyer, who took the puck and scored.

This is the most Reno Pond hockey has been beaten by in a while. It doesn’t help when the other team has a former ECHL goalie. Reno Pond Hockey were playing back in their own zone for most of the game. It’s not the way they wanted to end the regular season. In their last two games Reno Pond Hockey has been struggling to get the puck out of their zone and get offensive going. There has been a lot of one and done on offense.

Can’t show the stats for this game because they are really wrong on the league website. #8 Marty Harsin and #71 Dominic Hyer scored the only goals for Reno Pond Hockey. #28 Zac Seidemann got the only assist for Reno Pond Hockey. #71 Dominic Hyer got the only penalty for Reno Pond Hockey. He got two minutes for making a comment at the ref after the ref didn’t call a clear check at the end of the game.

*The stats aren’t 100% accurate.

The standings are also currently wrong on the league website. They show the Tahoe Storm in first place with 22 points. I know that is wrong because they are only 6-5 not 11-0.

I am not sure yet if Reno Pond Hockey is in the playoffs. Mostly just because the standings are also wrong on the league website. I am waiting on official word from the league which should come later today.

If we made the playoffs our next game will be on Friday December 17, 2021 at 10:15PM.
