Reno Pond Hockey RIAL Spring 2022 Season Preview

Reno Pond Hockey is gearing up for their third season in the Reno Ice Adult League. Reno Pond Hockey will play an eleven game regular season. That is the same amount of games as their last season. The schedule is out. Reno Pond Hockeys first game is coming up on Sunday. Downloadable schedules are available here. Reno Pond Hockey has made some roster changes during the long off season. There is a lot to look forward too in the upcoming season. Reno Pond Hockey fans should be excited for what is to come.

Reno Pond Hockeys joined the Reno Ice Adult League as a founding member for the Summer 2021 season. Reno Pond Hockey was one of the “original 27” RIAL teams. Reno Pond Hockey has played both of their previous seasons in B-League. They will stay in B-League for the RIAL Spring 2022 season. During the Summer 2021 season Reno Pond Hockey found some early success followed by a long losing streak. Reno Pond Hockey finished their first season with a record of 3-9-0. After winning their first three games Reno Pond Hockey went on a nine game losing streak to end the season. Reno Pond Hockey did not make the playoffs in their first season. Reno Pond Hockey finished last season 5-6-0. They did make the RIAL Fall 2021 Playoffs. They were eliminated in the playoffs after losing their Quarterfinal match 2-3.

The expectations are high for Reno Pond Hockey going into their third season. After finding some success last season, the question coming into this season is will Reno Pond Hockey find their way back to playoffs? A shootout win became the deciding factor in their playoff birth last season. The team improved a lot from their first season. They continued to improve in the off season by making roster moves. Reno Pond Hockey remains a bubble team right now. There are a few teams that could take that last spot. It might come down to one game for Reno Pond Hockey. Their focus as a team is to go out there have make the play, not worry about the score or making the playoffs, improve as a team and have fun.

For the third season in a row Reno Pond Hockey is scheduled to play in the first game of the RIAL season. For game one Reno Pond Hockey takes on their rivals the Slappy Gilmores. The game is set for Sunday, March 6, 2022 at 7:30pm. Reno Pond Hockey and Slappy Gilmore became rivals after a preseason game prior to the Summer 2021 season. That game was pretty heated with plenty of penalties thus creating the rivalry. Reno Pond Hockey is 1-1-0 all time in season openers. Reno Pond Hockey is 1-0-0 vs Slappy Gilmores all time. These two teams last met back on October 23, 2021. In that game Reno Pond Hockey beat the Slappy Gilmores in a shootout.

Game two will be on Sunday, March 13, 2022. That game will be against Flop. Puck drop is set for 9pm. Flop is a new team. Reno Pond Hockey and Flop have not played each other yet.

Game three will be on Monday, March 21, 2022. Reno Pond Hockey will be playing Black Ox. Puck drop is set for 7:15pm. Black Ox is a new team. Reno Pond Hockey and Black Ox have not played each other yet.

Game four will be on Sunday, March 27th, 2022. Reno Pond Hockey will be playing Cruz Construction. Puck drop is set for 7:30pm. Reno Pond Hockey has an all time record of 0-2-0 against Cruz Construction. They last played on October 8, 2021. Cruz Construction won that game 4-9.

Game five will be on Sunday, April 3, 2022. Reno Pond Hockey will be playing 4 Seasons. Puck Drop is set for 7:30pm. The all time record between Reno Pond Hockey and 4 Seasons is 1-0-1. These two teams last met on December 1, 2021. Reno Pond Hockey won that game 5-4.

Reno Pond Hockey and Blue Moon last played on September 14, 2021 for the RIAL Fall 2021 season opener. Blue Moon won that game 4-6.

Game nine will be on Sunday, April 24, 2022. Reno Pond Hockey will be playing the United Skates. Puck drop was originally scheduled for 4:30pm but was pushed back to 10:30pm. The United Skates are a new team. The United Skates won C-League last season and as a result have been promoted into B-League. Reno Pond Hockey has only played the United Skates in a preseason scrimmage.

Game ten will be on Sunday, May 1, 2022. Reno Pond Hockey will be playing Hyundai N-Line. Puck drop is set for 9pm. The all time record between Reno Pond Hockey and Hyundai N-Line is 1-0-0. Reno Pond Hockey beat Hyundai N-Line 5-4 in their only ever meeting back on November 21, 2021.

Game eleven will be on Mothers Day, Sunday, May 8, 2022. Reno Pond Hockey will finish the regular season with a game against the Tahoe Dawgs. Puck drop is set for 8pm. The all time record between Reno Pond Hockey and the Tahoe Dawgs is 0-2-0. These two teams last met on Halloween night, October 31, 2021. The Tahoe Dawgs won that game 1-5.

The playoffs should start around the week of may 8th. There is no information yet on the playoffs. Last season the top six teams made the playoffs. It was single elimination. The top two teams advanced into the semifinals. The other four teams played in the quarterfinals.
