Reno Ice Adult League Summer 2022 Playoffs

The Reno Ice Adult League Summer 2022 season is half way through. Most teams have played five or six games out of the ten game regular season. That means it is time to start talking about the playoffs. Everything was restructured for this season. Leagues became leagues of 6 teams with the top 4 making the playoffs. Seems simple enough. The Regular season ends on Saturday, August 13th. So the playoffs should be starting that week. The first teams to qualify for the playoffs could happen this week.

If a team gets six wins (.600 win percentage) they will qualify for the playoffs. Teams that have five wins (.500 win percentage) will still make the playoffs. A team with two wins (.200 win percentage) could in theory make the playoffs. That is the lowest possible amount of wins it would take to make the playoffs. A record for that team would be 2-8-0. The only way that would be possible is if the fourth place team beat the fifth and sixth place teams once, while the fifth and sixth place teams only win up to one game that season. What I think will happen with most leagues this season is that the number one and two seed teams will be above 5 if not 6 wins (+.600 win percentage). The third seed team will be around 5 wins (.500 win percentage). The fourth seed team will be around 4 wins (.400 win percentage). The firth and sixth place teams will be under 4 wins (.350 or lower win percentage).

B-League

None of the B-League teams have qualified for the playoffs yet. None of the B-League teams have been eliminated from playoff contention either. The first place team is one point away from qualifying. If they are able to force a shootout in at least one of their next 5 games they will qualify for the playoffs. The 5th through 6th place teams are all within three wins of each other. The fourth and final qualifying spot is still anyones to take.

Current Standings as of July 11, 2022:

C-League

C-League is probably the closest in the standings. None of the teams have qualified or been eliminated from the playoffs yet. With 5 games left in the season, all of the teams are within 6 points (3 wins) of each other. Each team in C-League will have to get 2 to 3 wins of the remaining 5 games to qualify for the playoffs.

D-League

First off the Standings for D-League haven’t been updated and Reno Pond Hockey should be in second. On top of that the goals for/against are also messed up in the D-League standings. ignoring that, none of the D-League have qualified or been eliminated yet. The first place team is one point away from securing a playoff spot. If they get a win or shootout loss they will be in the playoffs. The other five teams are all within 4 point (2 wins) of each other. What it looks like now is that second and third place will battle it out for second place. Fourth through sixth place will be fighting for that last playoff spot. With the second half of the season still to be played every team could end up in a completely different spot than where they are now.

E-League

In E-League some of the teams have only played four games while one team has played six games. If the Standings are correct on the league website, none of the E-League teams have qualified or been eliminated from the playoffs yet. It looks like first and second place are battling it out for first place. Third through six place seem to be battling for the other playoff spots.
