Slappy Gilmores were coming off of a 5-0 win against The Guardians in the RIAL D-League Summer 2022 Semi-Finals. Slappy Gilmores finished the regular season 10-0-0. Slappy Gilmores secured the D-League regular season title and number 1 seed in the D-League Playoffs. The all time record between Reno Pond Hockey and Slappy Gilmores was 1-3-0. Reno Pond Hockey last played Slappy Gilmores on July 13, 2022. That game ended in a 1-6 Reno Pond Hockey loss.
Reno Pond Hockey had an all time RIAL Playoff record of 1-1-0. Their last playoff game was on August 17, 2021. That game was 6-3 win.

Slappy Gilmores got off to an early 2-0 lead. Reno Pond Hockey got one back. Less than 4 minutes into the game there was already 3 goals. Reno Pond Hockey kept the puck in the offensive zone. #10 Bihn Ly passed the puck to the slot. #25 Ethan Crisp got it there. He got it to #25 Zac Seidemann who passed it across the net to #19 Brent Cordell who found the back of the net.
The score stayed 1-2 until late in the second period. Slappy Gilmores would make it 1-3 with under 2 minutes to go in the second period. It would remain that score going into the third period. The Slappy Gilmores would score two more in the third period. Towards the end of the game #24 Tyler Noblit was ejected from the game. Tyler had possession of the puck. The Slappy Gilmores player didn’t play the puck and ran into Tyler. Tyler took offense to that. Both players pushed each other. Both players got penalties. The ref said something to Tyler. Tyler said something back and was ejected. The final score was a 1-5 Reno Pond Hockey loss.
Some of Reno Pond Hockeys top players were missing from the lineup going in this game. That could have made a difference. The biggest difference maker was that #19 Brent Cordell left the game due to injury. Reno pond Hockey did their best with what they had. They gave it their all. They made Slappy Gilmores fight for every goal they had. In the end it was a scrappy game that for the majority of it only was a one goal game. I’m happy with the way Reno Pond Hockey played. They gave it their best and that’s all anyone was asking for.


The only Reno Pond Hockey goal was scored by #19 Brent Cordell. It was assisted by #25 Ethan Crisp and #28 Zac Seidemann.

Slappy Gilmores won the RIAL D-League Summer 2022 Playoff Championship. No shocker there. They went undefeated for the season. In the beginning we knew it would be us and them in the championship. We will back hopefully next season.

I just want to say a quick thank you to everyone who made this season possible. The Reno Ice staff, our fans, our players, and the officials . Reno Ice and their staff make this possible and we are grateful for all of their hard work. We love the ongoing support from all of our fans. Without our players and the support of our fans none of what we do would be possible. We appreciate all of the hard work of our players and the officials this season.

Our next season should start in December. D-League will not be playing during the Fall 2022 season. We have a long off season. We have a lot of stuff we are working on. We are very hopeful for next season. We are looking forward to being back in the playoffs. We will be looking to get a championship.
