The Reno Ice Adult League Fall 2022 season is upon us. The schedule has been released. For this season A-League, C-League and E-League will be playing. B-League and D-League will not be playing this season. The league said that it is organized this way due to ice time. A-League will have six teams. C-League will expand from six teams during the RIAL Summer 2022 season to nine teams for the RIAL Fall 2022 season. E-League will also expand to have seven teams. There will be a ten game regular season like there was during the RIAL Summer 2022 season. I imagine the playoff format will remain mostly the same.
The regular season will start on September 6th, 2022. That is this upcoming Tuesday. The regular season will end on November 21st, 2022. A-League will start its season on September 11th, 2022. The A-League regular season will end on November 20th, 2022. The C-League regular season will start on September 7th, 2022. The C-League regular season will come to an end on November 21st, 2022. E-League will start the regular season off on September 6th, 2022. The E-League regular season will come to an end on November 16th, 2022. The full schedule can be viewed here.
The RIAL Fall 2022 season starts off with an E-League matchup between Long Drink and the Trash Pandas. That game will be on September 6th, 2022 at 10:30pm. Long Drink finished in 5th place in E-League during the RIAL Summer 2022 season. They did not qualify for the playoffs. Trash Pandas finished in 2nd place in E-League during the RIAL Summer 2022 season. They missed 1st place by one point. In the playoffs, Trash Pandas made it to the E-League Championship.
C-League will start its season off with four games on September 7th, 2022. Desert Dogs vs Black Ox at 6pm. United Skates vs Murder Hornets at 7:30pm. Reno Fire Hosers vs Slappy Gilmores at 9pm. Lagers vs Blue Moon to finish it off at 10:30pm.
A-League will start its regular season with three games on September 11th, 2022. BWD Tooth Fairies vs Reno Gamblers at 6:30pm. Whisky Dekes vs Free Agents at 8pm. RT Janitorial vs Mustangs to round out the first day of A-League at 9:30pm.
The RIAL Fall 2022 Playoffs should start the week of November 21st, 2022. I don’t think the league wants to change the formats too much. I think we will see four-team playoffs return this season. With the top four teams making the playoffs. I think C-League could expand to a six-team format. The way that could work is with first and second place automatically advancing to the semi-finals. Third place would play sixth place and fourth place would play fifth place in the first round. The winners would move on to the semi-finals. Third place or sixth place would play second place. Fourth place or fifth place would play first place. The winners of the semi-final games would move on to the championship.
Honestly I think every team should make the post season like in my RIAL concept series. I think it’s more fun and inclusive that way. This is adult league, this is just for fun. I think it would be a little less serious and a little more casual with people enjoying each game more if they knew they were going to make the post season no matter what. I get why they do the post season the way they do. It helps keep the competitive nature of the game while giving teams a bigger sense of accomplishment. It’s two different ways to solve the same problem. Anyway the season starts Tuesday. Good luck to everyone.
