Up next in the Reno Ice Adult League concept is Satans Gatekeepers. This is probably the most metal team I have done in this series.
In this concept, the Satans Gatekeepers play in the C-League along with the NPU/TKO Motorsports, Reno Fire Hosers, Revision Brewery, and The Guardians.
Satans Gatekeepers Primary Logo
Satans Gatekeepers’ primary logo is a skull with horns in front of hockey sticks with tridents. The idea behind the skull with horns is that I wanted to have the logo represent the devil in a less traditional way while still having elements that are found in devil logo imagery. Satans Gatekeepers colors are red and green. The branding in this concept was inspired by the New Jersey Devils, metal music, the Duke Blue Devils, Manchester United, the ASU Sun Devils, and the Binghamton Devils.
Satans Gatekeepers Secondary Logo
Satans Gatekeepers are the first team in this concept series in a while to have a secondary logo. Satans Gatekeepers secondary logo is the skull with horns from the primary logo.
Satans Gatekeepers Alternate Logos
Satans Gatekeepers’ first two alternate logos are pentagrams made out of hockey sticks. The third alternate logo in the top row is the trident hockey sticks from the primary logo recolored. The first logo on the bottom row is an old-school goalie hockey mask with horns. The second logo on the bottom row it a wordmark logo with the team name, horns and a devil tail. The third logo in the bottom row is a recolored version of the secondary logo. It was made for the surge jersey. The last logo in the bottom row is from the Carson City Nevada flag. It is for the City jersey.
Satans Gatekeepers Throwback Logos
The first logo in the top row is a skull with horns in front of a circle. the second one is the same logo with a white outline. The next two logos are wordmark logos. In this concept, this was the team’s original logo set. It would have been introduced in the early to mid 80s. The first logo in the top row would have been Satans Gatekeepers original primary logo. In this concept, Satans Gatekeepers were started by a metal band by the same name from Carson City.
The fifth and sixth logos in the top row are a skeleton doing the sign of the horns in front of a chain. In this concept, these two logos would have replaced the first set of logos in the late 80s. The reason for this change would have been that the team wanted to be more metal.
The last two logos in the top row are SG with a trident behind them. In this concept, these logos would have been Satans Gatekeepers second rebrand. People didn’t like their last set of logos. For years the league received multiple complaints from other teams and fans. The complaints were that it was too metal, a bad influence, and satanic. During one season a petition was started to force the league to change the logos or ban Satans Gatekeepers. That season the team that started the petition refused to play Satans Gatekeepers. During that offseason the league forced them to rebrand. The SG logos were the result of that rebrand.
The first logo on the bottom row is the team name in front of a trident. The second logo in the bottom row is the team name in front of two tridents. The third logo is an s in front of a trident. the next two logos are crossed trident logos. In this concept this set of logos would have been Satans Gatekeepers’ fourth rebrand. This rebrand would have happened because they wanted new logos for the new millennium. They stuck with their trident branding. They updated the trident.
The sixth logo in the bottom row is a trident with a circle behind it. The next logo takes that logo and adds a white outline. The last three logos in the bottom row are tridents. In this concept, this set of logos would have been another rebrand. They would have leaned harder into the trident branding in the late 2000s.
Satans Gatekeepers Jerseys
The Dark jersey is green, red, and white. it has the secondary logo on the front of the jersey. On the shoulders is the hockey stick pentagram alternate logo. The Light jersey is white, green, and red. It has the primary logo on the front of the jersey. On the shoulders is the hockey stick pentagram alternate logo.
The 3RD jersey is red, green, and white. It has the old-school hockey mask alternate logo on the front. On the right shoulder is the wordmark logo.
The City jersey is blue and white. On the front is the logo from the Carson City Flag. The jersey itself is inspired by the Carson City Flag.
The Retro jersey is red and green. It has the throwback team name with the trident logo on the front. On the shoulders are the crossed trident logos. In this concept, this would have been their primary jersey in the late 90s.
The Surge jersey is green and red. It has the alternate recolored secondary logo on the front.
