The Reno Ice Adult League Winter 2022/23 regular season is halfway over. That means it’s time for playoff and regular season title updates. The playoffs are still a while away. There is still half a season to be played. That is plenty of time for most teams to turn their season around or still get into the playoffs.
The format for the playoffs should be the same as it has been for a while now. The top four teams in each league will battle it out in a single elimination tournament. The winners will be crowned champions of their league.
The Reno Ice Adult League Winter 2022/23 Playoffs are set to start on March 6th, 2023. The playoffs will continue through March 11th, 2023. Monday, March 6th through Thursday, March 9th should be the semifinals. There will be no playoffs Friday, March 10th. The Championship games should be on Saturday, March 11th.
Teams with six wins will qualify for the playoffs. Teams with four or five wins are on the edge to qualifying for the playoffs. Teams with less than four wins probably won’t qualify for the playoffs. Last season only one team made the playoffs with less than six wins. Nine teams made the playoffs with seven or more wins. In the last two seasons, none of the regular season title winners had less than twelve points which is six wins.

B-League
In the B-League, none of the teams have secured a playoff spot yet. None of the B-League teams have been eliminated yet.
Cruz Construction is one win away from securing a playoff birth. The Tahoe Storm and Tahoe Dawgs are both two wins away from a playoff birth. 4 Seasons are two wins and a shootout loss away from securing a playoff birth. Carson City Hyundai is five wins away from a playoff birth. Silver State Wire is six wins away from a playoff birth. As things stand now, 4 Seasons two wins into that final playoff spot. That presents a tough task for Carson City Hyundai. For Silver State Wire the task is even harder. They have four games remaining and would need to win at least three with 4 Seasons losing all of their remaining games and Carson City Hyundai finishing the season with less than three wins.
If the playoffs started today Cruz Construction would play 4 Seasons in the semifinals. The other semifinal game would see the Tahoe Storm face the Tahoe Dawgs.
In the B-League, Cruz Construction leads the regular season title race. No surprise there. They currently lead with ten points (five wins). The Tahoe Storm and Tahoe Dawgs are both two points (one win) away from tying for first place. 4 Seasons are four points (two wins) away from tying for first place. Carson City Hyundai is eight points (four wins) away from tying for first place. They would have to win four of their last five games with none of the other teams passing ten points. If any of the other teams get 11 or more points Carson City Hyundai would have to win all of their remaining games to get or tie for first place. Silver state Wire is already out of the B-League regular season title race.

D-League
In the D-League, none of the teams have secured a playoff spot yet. None of the B-League teams have been eliminated yet.
Mid-Ice Crisis is one win away from securing a playoff birth. The Guardians and Reno Pond Hockey are both two wins away from securing playoff births. The Nevada Police Foundation is four wins away from securing a playoff birth. The Jurassic Pucks need five wins to secure a playoff birth. The Grrrowlers need five wins to secure a playoff birth. The Nevada Police Foundation would need to win all of its remaining games to get six wins. They might only need one more win or no wins at all to keep the last playoff spot. The Jurassic Pucks are right on their heels though. They currently only need one point (a shootout loss) to tie for the last playoff spot. The Grrrowlers only need one win to tie for the last playoff spot. It is currently a tight race for the final playoff spot. The Grrrowlers will not be able to get six wins this season.
If the playoffs started today Mid-Ice Crisis would play the Nevada Police Foundation in the semifinals. The other semifinal game would be between The Guardians and Reno Pond Hockey.
In the D-League, Mid-Ice Crisis leads the regular season title race. They lead with ten points (five wins). The Guardians are only one point (shootout loss) behind. Reno Pond Hockey is only two points (one win) from tying for first place. Both The Guardians and Reno Pond Hockey have five games left to play in the regular season. Mid-Ice Crisis only has three games left to play. If Mid-Ice Crisis loses one game or loses to The Guardians or Reno Pond Hockey, they probably wont win the regular season title. The Nevada Police Foundation is six points (three wins) from tying for first place. They would have to win three of their four remaining games tie for first place as things stand now. They would have win all four of their remaining games with no other team getting more than eleven points to win the regular season title. The Jurassic Pucks are seven points (three wins and an overtime loss) away from tying for first place. The Grrrowlers are eight points (four wins) away from tying for first place. They would have to win all of their remaining games just to tie for first place as it currently stands. All six of the D-League teams are still in the regular season title race. The bottom half of the league is close to no longer being in the race though.
