With one to three games remaining for Reno Ice Adult League teams in the RIAL Winter 2022/23 Regular season we take another look at the RIAL Winter 2022/23 Playoffs. In the A-League two teams have secured playoff spots. In the B-League there is only one playoff spot left. In the D-League there are still three playoff spots up for grabs. The regular season title races are down to two or three team in each league.
The playoffs will start on March 6th, 2023. The top four teams in each league get in.

In the A-League, RT Janitorial and the Mustangs are the first teams to secure playoff spots. None of the A-League teams have been eliminated from playoff contention yet.
With only one team in the A-League being eliminated and the Whiskey dekes can only get up to four wins, the threshold to secure a playoff spot has moved from six wins to five wins. The Reno Gamblers are one win away from securing a playoff spot. Whiskey Dekes will not be able to get five wins. The GBB Tooth Fairies would have to win all three of their remaining games to get five wins. It is possible for the Reno Gamblers, Whiskey Dekes, and the GBB Tooth Fairies to get into the playoffs without getting five wins. Two of those three teams will be in the playoffs. The GBB Tooth Fairies are only one point (shootout loss) from tying for the last playoff spot.
If the playoffs started today RT Janitorial would play Whisky Dekes in the semifinals. The other semifinal matchup would be the Mustangs and the Reno Gamblers.
In the A-League, RT Janitorial is still the front-runner in the regular season title race. They lead with twelve points (six wins). The Mustangs are only two points (one win) from tying RT Janitorial for that first-place spot. The Reno Gamblers are four points (two wins) from tying for the first-place spot. Whiskey Dekes and the GBB Tooth Fairies are out of the regular season title race.

In the B-League, Cruz Construction, the Tahoe Storm, and the Tahoe Dawgs have secured playoff births. None of the B-League teams have been eliminated from playoff contention yet.
Like in the A-League, the threshold to secure a playoff spot has changed from six wins to four wins. This is because Silver State Wire and Carson City Hyundai can not get more than four wins. With the threshold change, there is now only one playoff spot left. If 4 Seasons get one more win they will secure the final playoff spot. Silver State Wire and Carson City Hyundai would have to win both of their remaining games with four seasons not winning another game for them to have a chance at the final playoff spot.
If the playoffs started today Cruz Construction would play 4 Seasons in the semifinals. The other semifinal game would see the Tahoe Storm face the Tahoe Dawgs.
In the B-League, Cruz Construction leads the regular season title race. They lead with 14 points (seven wins). The Tahoe Storm is two points (one win) away from tying for first place. The Tahoe Dawgs are four points (two wins) away from tying for first place. They would have to win all of their remaining games just to have a chance to tie. 4 Seasons, Silver State Wire, and Carson City Hyundai are out of the regular season title race.

In the D-League, Reno Pond Hockey is still the only team to secure a playoff birth. None of the D-League teams have been eliminated from playoff contention yet.
The Guardians and Mid-Ice Crisis are still one win away from securing playoff spots. Jurassic Pucks, the Nevada Police Foundation, and the Grrrowlers are no longer able to get six wins. The Jurassic Pucks and the Nevada Police Foundation can get five wins. If they both get 5 wins, The Guardians or Mid-Ice Crisis could be eliminated. The Nevada Police Foundation are one point out of the final playoff spot. A win or shootout loss would put them back in the last playoff spot. The Grrrowlers need to win at least one of their two final games with the other game not ending in a regulation time loss just to have a chance to get the last playoff spot. If the Grrrowlers win both of their remaining two games, it would put them in the last playoff spot as things stand now.
If the playoffs started today Reno Pond Hockey would play the Jurassic Pucks in the semifinals. The other semifinal game would be between The Guardians and Mid-Ice Crisis.
In the D-League, Reno Pond Hockey continues to lead the regular season title race. They lead with sixteen points (eight wins). The Guardians are behind by five points (two wins and a shootout loss). Mid-Ice Crisis, the Jurassic Pucks, the Nevada Police Foundation, and the Grrrowlers are no longer in contention for the D-League regular season title. If The Guardians lose one more game in a shootout, they will still be able to tie Reno Pond Hockey for first place. If The Guardians lose one more game in regulation, Reno Pond Hockey will win the regular season title race. If The Guardians win their remaining three games, the regular season title race would come down to Reno Pond Hockey’s final regular season game. If Reno Pond Hockey win their last game of the regular season, they will win the regular season title. The Guardians record won’t matter at that point. If Reno Pond Hockey lose their final regular season game in a shootout and The Guardians win their last three games, it would come down to tie breakers.
