Reno Ice Adult League Concept

Season Two | Reno Ice Adult League Concept Part Forty Four

I am back for season two of my Reno Ice Adult League Concept. For this season I plan on expanding what I did in season one. In season one, I created the branding and jerseys for 27 teams. There was also an all-star event and I finished it up by simulating the first season. For season two it is going to be a lot of the same. The season structure is pretty much staying the same. A couple of new competitions will be added. All 27 teams are sticking around plus expansion teams.

In this concept, season one was the RIAL Summer 2021 season. Season two is the Fall 2021 season.

Season one saw twenty-seven teams across three leagues. In real life, seven of those folded after the first season. Miller Lite, the Swamp Donkeys, Coors Banquet, Coors Light, Hop Valley, the Hot Shots, and the Revision Brewing Company, did not continue for season two. In this concept, they will all be returning for season two. All twenty-seven teams will be returning.

There will be seven expansion teams for season two. The only expansion team in the A-League is the Blue Water Dental Tooth Fairies. They are more commonly known as the BWD Tooth Fairies. The B-League will get two expansion teams, 4 Seasons and Hyundai N-Line. The C-League will get four expansion teams. The Goal Diggers, the Grrrowlers, the Trash Pandas, and the United Skates. In addition to the seven new teams, some current teams will get updates and their will be some new jersey series.

In the A-League nothing really changes. The addition of the BWD Tooth Fairies brings the total up to seven teams. None of the teams left the A-League. None of the teams from the other leagues joined the A-League. The A-League will remain without divisions for season two. The other teams in the A-League are The Mustangs, RT Janitorial, the Swamp Donkeys, Whisky Dekes, Miller Lite, and the Reno Gamblers.

The B-League saw the most movement. The Doughboys and Mid-Ice Crisis left the B-League. 4 Seasons and Hyundai N-Line took their spots. The B-League will remain at sixteen teams for season two. The B-League will not be adding any divisions and the current division names will stay the same. The Nevada Division did not change, it is still Blue Moon, Coors Banquet, Coors Light, and Hop Valley. The Reno Division is now 4 Seasons (expansion team), Reno Sriracha, Reno Pond Hockey, and the Slappy Gilmores (moved from Sparks division). The Tahoe Division is now Cruz Construction, the Desert Dogs (moved from sparks division), The Tahoe Dawgs and the Tahoe Storm. The Sparks division is now the Hot Shots, Hyundai N-Line (expansion team), the Murder Hornets, and Q&D Construction (moved from Reno division).

The C-League is expanding from five to eleven teams for season two. The Doughboys and Mid-Ice Crisis join the C-League after leaving the B-League. They also added four expansion teams. As part of the expansion, the C-League has added divisions like the B-League. The C-League now has three divisions. The North Division, the South Division, and the Valley Division. In the North Division is MPU/TKO Motorsports, Revision Brewing Company, the Satans Gate Keepers, and the United States (expansion team). In the South Division is the Doughboys (from B-League), Mid-Ice Crisis (from B-League), The Reno Fire Hosers, and The Guardians. In the Valley Division is the Goal Diggers (expansion team), the Grrrowlers (expansion team), and the Trash Pandas (expansion team).

The league structure will remain as 12 regular season games with the postseason following the end of the regular season. The 12 games and postseason are played over 16 weeks. The additional competitions for this season start at the same time as the regular season and end prior to the postseason.

  • In the A-League, each team plays one home and one away game against each other team.
  • The B-League schedule is six division games and six non-division games
    • One home and one away game with each team in the division
    • Three home and three away games with six different non-division opponents
    • The first three and last three games of the season are divisional games
  • The C-League Schedule is six division games and six non-division games
    • One home and one away game with each team in the division
      • In the Valley Division, they play three games with each team in the division instead of two
    • Three home and three away games with six different non-division opponents
    • The first three and last three games of the season are divisional games

The postseason is made up of playoffs, tournaments, league championships, tournament finals, and bowl games. The top four teams in each league make the playoffs. the rest of each league is split into four-team tournaments. Following the semifinals, the winners go into the league championships or tournament finals. Teams that did not make the playoffs or a tournament as well as the teams that lost in the semifinals, play in bowl games. In this concept the postseason takes place over two weeks. The postseason ends with all three of the championship games being played back to back on Championship Sunday.

The A-League has added a new bowl game for season two. The A-League postseason is determined by the overall league standings. The B-League postseason stays the same as season one. They have the same number of teams so nothing needed to be added or taken away. The B-League postseason is determined by the divisional standings. The C-League has added a tournament and two bowl games to their post season for season two. The C-League postseason is determined by both the divisional standings and the overall standings.

The first of the two addition competitions being added for season two is the Reno Ice Adult League Open Cup. The RIAL Open Cup will be single-elimination tournament with all the teams in the league. The RIAL Open Cup starts the first week of the regular season. The final is played prior to the start of the postseason. The RIAL Open Cup starts at the lowest level (C-League) and adds teams each round from higher leagues. Once there are no more teams to add, teams get eliminated until one team wins the final. The matchups for each round would be chosen at random. The best way to describe this is that it is like March Madness in the middle of the season. This compitition is based on the US Open Cup and the FA Cup.

The other additional competition being added for season two is the Reno Ice Adult League Champions League. The RIAL Champions League will be a tournament for the top sixteen teams in the league. The format is a group stage followed by an elimination stage. The RIAL Champions League starts the first week of the regular season and ends prior to Championship Sunday. The RIAL Champions League is based on the CONCACAF Champions League and the UEFA Champions League.

The schedule would look something like the regular season, RIAL Open Cup, and RIAL Champions League happening at once. Followed by Open Cup Final, then the postseason semifinals, then the Champions League final, then bowl games and tournament finals, and finally Championship Sunday.
