The reason for this is that the player didn’t keep a forward motion. #23 Joshua Schaap would score on the second attempt for Reno Pond Hockey. Mid-Ice Crisis would score on their second attempt. #96 Robbie Janas would score on the third attempt for Reno Pond Hockey to win the shootout 3 to 1.

Despite the game having no effect on the standings or the playoffs, both teams played hard. There were a lot of penalties. There was a lot of physical play. Neither team wanted to give up an inch of ice. The goaltending on both sides kept their teams in it. Games that come down to shootouts are nerve-racking. Reno Pond Hockey is fortunate enough to be have guys on the team who do really well in one-on-one situations with goalies. This is another come from behind win for Reno Pond Hockey. Once again they are just finding ways to win.

Reno Pond Hockey is the number one seed in the playoffs. They will play the number four seed, Jurassic Pucks on Monday, March 6th, 2023 at 9:15pm. This is the first of two RIAL Winter 2022/23 D-League Playoff Semifinal matches. If Reno Pond Hockey wins they will be back in the RIAL Winter 2022/23 D-League Playoff Championship game. If they make it back it will be back to back appearances for Reno Pond Hockey in the championship game. It will also be their second championship game in five seasons.
