Reno Pond Hockey RIAL Spring 2023 Season Preview

For the second season in a row, expectations are high. Following the RIAL Summer 2022 season that saw Reno Pond Hockey lose in the championship game, they not only won the RIAL Winter 2022/23 D-League Championship but also won the regular season title. The expectation going into the Winter 2022 season was that they were the best team in the D-League. Going into this season there is no doubt who the best D-League team is. So coming into this season, Reno Pond Hockey is the team to beat. Every team will bring their best against Reno Pond Hockey this season. Last season the expectation was that Reno Pond Hockey would make the playoffs, and have a run at the championship. This season the expectation is to do it again. The expectations right now are that they will be in the hunt for another regular season title and in the hunt for another championship game appearance. Reno Pond Hockey did really well last season handling the pressure. Since this and last season are so close it is almost like just continuing the same season.

Reno Pond Hockeys joined the Reno Ice Adult League as a founding member for the Summer 2021 season. Reno Pond Hockey was one of the original RIAL teams. Reno Pond Hockey played its first three seasons in B-League. In the summer of 2022, the RIAL restructured and Reno Pond Hockey was sent down to D-League. Reno Pond Hockey has made the playoffs three times. Reno Pond Hockey has made the championship game twice. Reno Pond Hockey has won one regular season title and one championship.

Last season Reno Pond Hockey finished the regular season in the first place. They had a record of 11-1-0. They had the most goals in the league with. They had the least goals allowed with 29. In the playoffs, they won the championship game

RIAL D-League Winter 2022/23:

Reno Pond Hockey has an all-time record of 25-31-0. Reno Pond Hockey has scored 190 goals. Reno Pond Hockey has allowed 204 goals. Their all-time record in D-League is 17-5-0 with 101 goals and 61 allowed in two seasons. Reno Pond Hockey is 3-2-0 all-time in the playoffs. They have scored 21 playoff goals. They have allowed 15 playoff goals.

Below is what our schedule looks like. There are now eight teams again in the D-League. The top four will make the playoffs. There will be ten regular season games. Reno Pond Hockey will play three teams twice and four teams once.

To start the season Reno Pond Hockey will play Q & D Construction. They played in the C-League during the Fall 2022 season and were on hiatus for the Winter 2022/23 season. Reno Pond Hockey will play the Q & D Construction on Mar. 22nd at 10:30pm and on May 7th at 9:30pm. They came in last place in the C-League during the fall 2022 season.

Reno Pond Hockey’s all-time record against Q & D Construction is 2-0-0. Reno Pond Hockey has scored 24 goals and has allowed 6 goals against Q & D Construction dating back to the RIAL Summer 2021 season. They last played on September 26th, 2022 with Reno Pond Hockey taking a 10-4 win.

The Reno Fire Hosers D are also joining the D-League after playing the Fall 2022 season in the C-League. Reno Pond Hockey will play the Reno Fire Hosers D on Mar. 29th at 7:30pm and on May. 19th at 10:15pm. The Reno Fire Hosers D came in second to last place in the C-League during the Fall 2022 season. Reno Pond Hockey has not played the Reno Fire Hosers before even though both teams have been around since the first season.

Reno Pond Hockey will play Mid-Ice Crisis on Apr. 3rd at 7:30pm. That will be the one and only championship game rematch of the regular season. Mid-Ice Crisis finished last season in 3rd place and made it to the championship game.

The all-time record between Reno Pond Hockey and Mid-Ice Crisis is 5-1-0 dating back to the RIAL Summer 2021 season. Reno Pond Hockey has scored 29 goals against Mid-Ice Crisis. Reno Pond Hockey has allowed 19 goals against Mid-Ice Crisis. During the Winter 2022/23 season, the record was 3-0-0. Reno Pond Hockey scored 14 goals and allowed 8. These two teams last played on Mar. 11th 2023, in the RIAL Winter 2022/23 D-League Championship game. Reno Pond Hockey won that game 4-1.

Reno Pond Hockey takes on the Grrrowlers on Apr. 9th at 6:30pm. The Grrrowlers came in last place last season.

The all-time record between Reno Pond Hockey and the Grrrowlers is 4-0-0. Reno Pond Hockey has scored 23 goals against the Grrrowlers. Reno Pond Hockey has allowed 12 goals against the Grrrowlers. During the Winter 2022/23 season, The record was 2-0-0. Reno Pond Hockey scored 11 goals and allowed 7. These two teams last played on Feb. 6th, 2023. Reno Pond Hockey won that game 4-2.

Reno Pond Hockey plays the Nevada Police Foundation on Apr. 17th at 9:00pm. The Nevada Police Foundation came in 5th place last season.

Reno Pond Hockey plays The Guardians on Apr. 23rd at 6:30pm. The Guardians came in 2nd place last season.

Last season Reno Pond Hockey had a record of 2-0-0 against The Guardians. Reno Pond Hockey scored 7 goals and allowed 2. They last played on Feb. 13th with Reno Pond Hockey winning 5-1.

Reno Pond Hockey plays the Jurassic Pucks on Apr. 30th at 9:00pm and on May 22nd at 10:30pm. The Jurassic Pucks came in 4th place last season. In my last season preview I said they were a new team but they were the Doughboys before.

The all-time record between Reno Pond Hockey and the Jurassic Pucks is 4-2-0. Reno Pond Hockey has scored 28 times on the Jurassic Pucks. Reno Pond Hockey has allowed the Jurassic Pucks to score 13 times. Last season the record was 2-0-0 with Reno Pond hockey scoring 16 goals and allowing 7. The last game between these two was on Mar. 6th in a playoff semifinal match. Reno Pond Hockey won that game 8-3.

The Reno Ice Adult League Spring 2023 Playoffs will start the week of May 29th. The D-League playoffs start on May 30th.
