We are now forty one days into the Stanley Cup Playoffs. There was one game yesterday. Yesterdays game was game five of the Western Conference Finals between the Vegas Golden Knights and Dallas Stars. The Golden Knights had the chance to win that series. There are no games going on today. The Golden Knights and Stars series is the only one happening right now. That series will return tomorrow.
Heading into game five of the Western Conference Finals the Vegas Golden Knights had a 3-1 lead over the Dallas Stars. The Golden Knights won game one 4-3 in overtime, the won game two 3-2 in overtime, and they won game three 4-0. The Stars won game four 3-2 in overtime to force game five. Game five started with a Golden Knights goal. Ivan Barbashev scored the goal that game the Golden Knights the lead. Luke Glendening tied the game. The score was 1-1 after the first period.
Chandler Stephenson scored early in the second period. His goal gave the Golden Knights the lead. Jason Robertson scored to tie the game a few minutes later. The score was tied at 2-2 heading into the third period.
Ty Dellandrea scored to give the Stars the lead. A few minutes later he scored again to put the Stars up by two. The final score was 4-2 Stars. The Vegas Golden Knights now have a 3-2 series lead.
The Stars have forced game six. Their performance in the third period is really what made the game for them. For the second game in a row the Golden Knights could not keep or add to their lead. It wouldn’t say that the Golden Knights are falling apart like a lot of people are saying. I would say that the Golden Knights had a bad third period in this game and had a bad overtime in the last game. I will say that the Golden Knights do need to find a way to build on their leads and that their offense isn’t cutting it right now. They have two more games to win one game and reach the Stanley Cup Finals. I think the odds are still in Vegas favor. How will the Golden Knights respond in game six? Will they finish the series? Will the Stars force a game seven?
Game six will be on Monday, May 25th, 2023. That game will be in Da;;as. The start time is set for 5:00pm PST.
The next game in the Stanley Cup Playoffs will be game six of the Western Conference Finals. Again that game will be tomorrow.
The Vegas Golden Knights, Carolina Hurricanes, Dallas Stars, Toronto Maple Leafs, Edmonton Oilers, Florida Panthers, Seattle Kraken, and New Jersey Devils advanced to round two. The Winnipeg Jets, New York Islanders, Minnesota Wild, Tampa Bay Lightning, Los Angeles Kings, Boston Bruins, Colorado Avalanche, and New York Rangers were eliminated in round one.
The Carolina Hurricanes and Florida Panthers advanced to the Eastern Conference Finals. The Vegas Golden Knights and Dallas Stars advanced to the Western Conference Finals. The New Jersey Devils, Toronto Maple Leafs, Edmonton Oilers, and Seattle Kraken have been eliminated in round two.
The Carolina Hurricanes have been eliminated in the Eastern Conference Finals. The Florida Panthers have advanced to the Stanley Cup Finals. The Vegas Golden Knights are playing the Dallas Stars in the Western Conference Finals.
