Today is day fifty five of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. I didn’t get this post out yesterday like I wanted. The last game of the Stanley Cup Playoffs was on Thursday. That game was game three of the Stanley Cup Finals. This series is between the Wester Conference Champions Vegas Golden Knights and the Eastern Conference Champions Florida Panthers. The Golden Knights won game one and game two. The next game in this series is today.
Coming into game three of the Stanley Cup Finals the Vegas Golden Knights had a 2-0 series lead over the Florida Panthers after winning game one 5-2 and game two 7-2. Game three started off with a Panthers goal. Brandon Montour scored the goal to give the Panthers the lead. Mark Stone scored on the powerplay to tie the game. The score was tied at 1-1 after the first period.
Jonathan Marchessault scored the only goal of the second period. His goal came on the powerplay. His goal gave the Golden Knights the lead. The score was 2-1 Golden Knights going into the third period.
Matthew Tkachuk scored the only goal of the third period. His goal for the Panthers tied the game. The score was2-2 after the third period. The game would go into overtime.
Carter Verhaeghe scored the game winning goal in overtime. His goal gave the Panthers the lead and the win. The final score was 3-2 Florida Panthers. The Vegas Golden Knights still lead the series 2-1.
After a game two blowout, game three was pretty close. This was the Golden Knights game to lose. They had the lead and managed to lose it. They also didn’t build on it. The Panthers stuck with it. They got the game to overtime and scored. After not really being in game one and a bad performance in game two the Panthers have found a way to get back into this series. Will the panthers able to continue to play at this level? How will the Golden Knights respond in game three?
Game three will be today. The start time is set for 5:00pm PST. The game will be in Florida.

The Vegas Golden Knights, Carolina Hurricanes, Dallas Stars, Toronto Maple Leafs, Edmonton Oilers, Florida Panthers, Seattle Kraken, and New Jersey Devils advanced to round two. The Winnipeg Jets, New York Islanders, Minnesota Wild, Tampa Bay Lightning, Los Angeles Kings, Boston Bruins, Colorado Avalanche, and New York Rangers were eliminated in round one.
The Carolina Hurricanes and Florida Panthers advanced to the Eastern Conference Finals. The Vegas Golden Knights and Dallas Stars advanced to the Western Conference Finals. The New Jersey Devils, Toronto Maple Leafs, Edmonton Oilers, and Seattle Kraken have been eliminated in round two.
The Carolina Hurricanes have been eliminated in the Eastern Conference Finals. The Florida Panthers have advanced to the Stanley Cup Finals. The Dallas Stars have been eliminated in the Western Conference Finals. The Vegas Golden Knights have advanced to the Staley Cup Finals.
The Stanley Cup Finals will be between the Vegas Golden Knights and Florida Panthers.
