The FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 continued last night and early this morning. There was three matches. Sweden played South Africa. The Netherlands played Portugal. France Played Jamaica. There are three matches coming up. Italy will play Argentina. Germany will play Morocco. Brazil will play Portugal. The FIFA Women’s World Cup has been very dramatic so far. The whole thing has been a lot closer do far than I thought it was going to be. That being said it has been very entertaining so far.

Sweden vs South Africa
Sweden played South Africa. It was a Group G match. The score was 0-0 going into the second half of the game. South Africa took the lead in the 48′ minute. The ball was lobbed behind the Swedish defense and the South African attacker beat the defence to the ball. She took a shot that was blocked but the keeper couldn’t handle it. South Africa’s #8 Hildah Magaia was able to get the rebound in the net. Sweden tied the game in the 65′ minute. #18 Fridolina Rolfo scored the goal. The ball was lobbed into the box. The ball got through everyone and the Swedish player was able to one touch it into the net. South Africa received a yellow card in the 74′ minute. South Africa received another yellow card in the 89′ minute. Sweden took the lead in the 90′ minute. #13 Amanda Ilestedt scored the goal. A corner kick from the right of the goalie was headed in. The final score was 2-1 Sweden.
It was a closer game than I thought it might have been. I think it was huge that South Africa scored the opening goal and had the lead over Sweden. In the end Sweden proved to be too much for South Africa. It was a close game despite Sweden controlling possession with a thrilling ending.

Netherlands vs Portugal
The Netherlands played Portugal. It was a Group E match. The Netherlands took the lead in the 13′ minute. #3 Stefanie van der Gragt scored the goal. The was scored off of a header that came in from a corner kick that was to the left of the keeper. The score was 1-0 Netherlands at halftime. Portugal received a yellow card in the 56′ minute. The Netherlands received a yellow card in the 78′ minute. Portugal received another yellow card in the 84′ minute. The final was 1-0 Netherlands.
It was another match with a close scoreline. The Netherlands had plenty of chances that they could not convert. Portugal only had a couple of chances. Despite that Portugal kept it close limiting the Netherlands to one goal. It was a solid match. This match will probably be the decider in Portugal moving past the Group Stage.

France vs Jamaica
France played Jamaica. It was a Group F match up. The game started with France getting a yellow card in the 14′ minute. Jamaica got a yellow card in the 24′ minute. They got another yellow card in the 37′ minute. The first half would end with neither team scoring and the game tied at 0-0. Jamaica got a red card in the 90+2′ minute after #11 Khadika Shaw got her second yellow card. The Match would end scoreless. This is the first scoreless match of the tournament.
I expected more out of France. They really underperformed in this match. With 73% of possession and 14 shots They should have been able to score at least one goal.

The United States still lead Group E with Vietnam still in the back. The Netherlands are in a position to advance with Portugal in an elimination position. France now lead Group F with Panama now last in that group. Sweden now leads Group G. With South Africa now in last in that group. Group H has still not played a game.

Italy is playing Argentina. That should be a good match. Germany is playing Morocco. Germany should dominate that game. Brazil is playing Panama. Brazil should easily win that game.
