Italy played Argentina. It was a Group G match. The only goal of the match came in the 87′ minute of the game. The goal was scored by #10 Cristiana Girelli. The ball was lobbed into the box from mid field and headed in. The final score was 1-0 Italy.

This game was fairly even. It was about as close as games have gotten so far in this tournament. This was the only game that was not a blowout between these three. It was the first of three shutouts.

Germany vs Morocco

Germany played Morocco. It was a Group H match. Germany didn’t waste any time. They took the lead in the 11′ minute. Alexandra Popp scored the first goal. She scored again in the 39′ minute to make it 2-0. Germany made it 3-0 with a goal from Klara Buhl in the 46′ minute. Germany would score on back to back own goals in the 54′ and 79′ minutes. Lea Schuller scored the final goal of the match in the 90′ minute. Germany won the game 6-0 in the largest victory so far in the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023.

This match went about as expected. It was the first of back to back blowouts and the second of three straight shutouts. This is what happens when a team ranked in the top three plays a team ranked in the seventies. Germany had all of the possession but credit to Morocco they still some shots and chances.

Colombia is playing South Korea. South Korea should win that match. New Zealand is playing the Philippines. New Zealand should win that match and the Philippines will be eliminated if they do not at least get a draw. Switzerland is playing Norway. Norway need to get a draw to keep their hopes alive. I think Norway will win the match.
