The United States now know who they are playing in the Round of 16 of the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023. Sweden beat Argentina 2-0 last night. With that result Sweden won Group G. By winning Group G the United States became their Round of 16 opponent. The Round of 16 will start Friday, August 4th, 2023 at 10:00 PM PST. The Round of 16 will start with a match between Switzerland and Spain. The United States Round of 16 match on Sunday, August 6th, 2023 at 2:00 AM PST.
The United States have advanced from the group stage in every single FIFA Women’s World Cup. In the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 they came in second place in Group E. It was the first time they had come in second in their group since 2011. This is the fifth FIFA Women’s World Cup in row where Sweden has advanced past the group stage. Sweden cam in third place in the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2019. The United States are back to back defending champions. The United States has played Sweden forty two times. The all time record is 23-12-7. It should be a good game. I am just not looking forward to the kick off time.
