Today is the sixth day of Conceptober. Todays prompt is create a jersey concept for an East Coast Hockey League team. The ECHL is the third level of pro hockey in North America. It is one level below the American Hockey League and two levels below the National Hockey League. Every player in the ECHL is a prospect for the NHL. All of the ECHL teams currently have NHL affiliates. The point of the league is largely to develop players for the NHL and AHL. At some point I will be doing an ECHL concept series like my AHL concept series.
Again I used the Wheel of Names to pick a team for this concept. The Tulsa Oilers won the spin. The Tulsa Oilers are from Tulsa Oklahoma. They play at the 19,199 capacity BOK Center. That is bigger than twenty three of the thirty two NHL arenas. The Tulsa Oilers trace their history back to 1928 and the American Hockey Association. That team played until the league folded in 1951. The Tulsa Oilers returned in 1964 to play in the original Central Hockey League. That team played until the league folded in 1984. The Tulsa Oilers were revived in 1982 with a new Central Hockey League. They have been around ever since being absorbed into the ECHL in 2014 along with the rest of the CHL. They are currently affiliated with the Anaheim Ducks of the NHL and the San Diego Gulls of the AHL.

The Tulsa Oilers jersey is blue, maroon, white, and grey. The jersey is inspired by the Anaheim Ducks 2019 to 2023 alternate jersey and the original Mighty Ducks jerseys. On the front is their primary logo. On their shoulders are their affiliates logos. Formerly in the ECHL teams would wear their dark jerseys at home and their light jerseys at away games from the start of the season until January first. After January first teams would wear white jerseys at home and dark jerseys on the road. I do not know if this is still the case. Athletic Knit currently makes the ECHL jerseys. Unlike the NHL jerseys that mainly have the same collar Athletic Knitt has at least six different collars that teams use. I think that is a neat idea because it give the teams a lot more personality.
