The 2023 USA Archery Nevada State Outdoor Championship is this weekend. A lot has happened in a short time to get this event off the ground. There hasn’t been any updates in a while so I thought I would just let everyone now what is going on. Again the 2023 USA Archery Nevada State Outdoor Championship will be on Saturday October 21st and Sunday October 22nd.
The 2023 USA Archery Nevada State Outdoor Championship registration ended Monday, October 16th, 2023. Thirty six total archers registered for this event. There was over fifty spots available and with just a couple of months to get this tournament together, having over half of the spots full is pretty good. The 2023 USA Archery Nevada State Outdoor Championship is not exclusive to Nevada residents. Some of the archers are not Nevada residents. They compete as “guest archers”. I do not know all of the details on that. I do know that majority of the archers are from Nevada.
The event will be at Speed Goat Ranch located thirty minutes north from downtown Reno. Speed Goat Ranch is the regular outdoor archery location for High Desert Archery. For this event there will basically be three areas. The parking, the spectator area, and the range. It is all dirt but there is plenty of parking. The spectator area is behind and to the right of the range. There is plenty of space but it is in the Nevada desert. There will be limited seating available. I recommend anyone coming to the event to bring their own water, foldable chairs, and canopies. Spectators should look at it like a tail gate or camping. Anything that someone might need they will likely need to bring. It will be fifteen to twenty minutes to the nearest store. The good news though is that there will be a food truck.
The 2023 USA Archery Nevada State Outdoor Championship weekend will start on Friday, October 20th, 2023 around 4pm with a pre tournament practice. It will be around 80 degrees around the time that practice starts. The sun will be setting around 6:30pm local time. That will give the archers just over a couple of hours of practice time.
The 2023 USA Archery Nevada State Outdoor Championship will start on Saturday, October 21st, 2023. Check in will begin at 8:00am PST. The tournament will begin at 9:00am PST. The U13 and U15 competitions will begin at 9:00am. The Explorer Division will also start at 9:00am. The U18, U21, Senior, and 50+ competition will start at 2:00pm PST.
Saturday will be partly cloudy. At the 9:00am start it will be around 55 degrees. At the 2:00pm start it will be around 75 degrees. The high will be 76 degrees around 2:40pm PST. Sunrise will be around 7:30am PST, Sunset will be around 6:30pm PST. It is going to be perfect weather for an archery tournament.
The 2023 USA Archery Nevada State Outdoor Championship will conclude on Sunday, October 22nd, 2023. I believe the check in and start times will be the same. I do not know if some archers will be eliminated on Saturday. I have to double check the competition format but I believe everyone shoots both days and the top three archers in each category are awarded Gold, Silver, and Bronze. Format aside, at the end of the competitions on Sunday, the top archers will be given medals. Sunday will again be partly cloudy. At the 9:00am start it will be around 51 degrees. At the 2:00pm start it will be around 64 degrees. The high will be 64 degrees around 2:00pm PST. Sunrise will be around 7:30am PST, Sunset will be around 6:30pm PST. It is going to be slightly colder than Saturday but will still be a good weather day for an archery tournament.
The 2023 USA Archery Nevada State Outdoor Championship will not be able to be live streamed. I was working towards live streaming the event but that will not be happening. For updates on the event follow High Desert Archery on their Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Outside of live streaming I am in charge of running media for this event. I will be doing photos, videos, blogs, and social posts throughout the event both on the High Desert Archery and Zac Electrifly channels. I will be doing trying to keep everything up to date as the event is going on. I will be trying to put some kind of recap video at the end of the event.
The 2023 USA Archery Nevada State Outdoor Championship does have some limited merchandise. It is only available on the Zac Electrifly Shop. The 2023 USA Archery Nevada State Outdoor Championship poster has been available. T-shirts, stickers, pins, and an embroidered patch are now available. This merchandise will only be available through Sunday. It will not be available at the event.
