I am still behind on Conceptober. The prompt on the 27th was to create an anniversary jersey concept. Each year a handful of teams celebrate their anniversary. Usually it is every five years. Not every team does this. Some teams also skip years. Sometimes as part of the celebration teams have special patches and even go as far as to have an entire jersey dedicated to celebrating their anniversary. However anniversary jerseys and celebrations are more common in the minor leagues.
I used the wheel of names again to pick a team for this concept. I stuck with the National Hockey League to keep things simple. Of the five NHL team with anniversaries in 2023 or 2024 the Boston Bruins won the spin.
The Boston Bruins are celebrating their 100th anniversary this season. Their first season was all the way back in 1924. The Bruins are doing a lot for their 100th anniversary. They have rebranded starting this season. They have new home and away jerseys. They also have a new third jersey that celebrates their 100th anniversary. What I did was take their original jersey from 1924 and bring it into the future. Their 2016 NHL Winter Classic Jersey was also inspired by their 1924 jersey. The jersey is brown and yellow with tan numbers. The tan numbers give it a vintage look. It has the Boston Bruins Centennial logo on the front. The NHL logo is also the original NHL logo. When I designed this one I wanted to design a retro jersey with an anniversary logo on the front. I don’t think enough teams do that.
