Yesterday was the start of March Madness. It kicked off with the first two games in the First Four. #16 Wagner played #16 Howard in the first game. The winner would play #1 North Carolina in the west region. The second game saw #10 Colorado State take on #10 Virginia. The winner of that game would play the #7 Texas in the midwest region. The last two First Four games will be played today. #16 Grambling will take on #16 Montana State. #10 Colorado will take on #10 Boise State. The First Round of March Madness starts tomorrow.

Wagner had an eleven point lead after the first half. The score was 38-27 Wagner going into the second half. Howard did outscore Wagner by eight points in the second half. That kept the game close. Wagner had a thirteen point lead with around five minutes to go in the game. That lead was cut down to five points with around a minute to go. With seventeen seconds left in the game there was only a one point lead for Wagner. In the last seconds of the game, down by three points, Howard missed three three point shots in a row. Howard kept it close and it was a wild end at the finish. The final score was 71-68 Wagner. #16 Wagner advances to play #1 North Carolina.

Colorado State had a thirteen point lead at halftime. Colorado State kept Virginia under fifteen points in the first half. With five minutes left in the game Colorado State had a twenty three point lead. Colorado State had a twenty five point lead with around a minute left in the game. The final score was 67-42 Colorado State. This game was a huge miss match. Colorado State clearly the better team showed everyone why the Mountain West has six teams in the tournament. Virginia could have just stayed home. #10 Colorado State advances to play #7 Texas.

#16 Grambling vs #16 Montana State. This is the third game of the First Four. Grambling has a record of 20-14 including going 14-4 in conference games. Grambling is from the Southwestern Athletic Conference. They won the SWAC Tournament. Grambling are the only SWAC team in March Madness. This is Grambling’s fist appearance in March Madness. Their last appearance in the tournament was in 2023. Montana State has a record of 17-17 including going 9-9 in conference play. Montana State is from the Big Sky Conference. They won the Big Sky Tournament. Montana State are the only Big Sky team in March Madness. This is Montana State’s sixth March Madness appearance. Their last appearance was in 2023.
