The Nevada Wolf Pack take on Dayton in the NCAA March Madness tournament today. Nevada are the ten seed. Dayton are the seven seed. It’s round one of the tournament. The game is taking place in Salt Lake City Utah at the Delta Center. The Delta Center is the home of the Utah Jazz. The start time is set for 1:30 PM PST. The game can be watched live on TBS. Nevada has a record of 26-7 including going 13-5 in conference games. Nevada Lost in the quarterfinals the Mountain West Conference Tournament. Nevada are one of six Mountain West Conference teams in March Madness. This is Nevada’s 11th appearance in March Madness. Their last appearance in the tournament was in 2023. The Wolf Pack had a string regular season. They finished the regular season being ranked twenty fourth in the county. They had a disappointing run in the Mountain West Conference tournament after not losing their first game. There were high hopes going into that. Goin into March Madness they are outside of the top twenty five. It seems the mood is optimistic going into this game. This is Steve Alford’s fifth season as head coach of the Nevada Wolf Pack.
Last season Nevada lost in the quarterfinals of the Mountain West Conference tournament. They were an eleven seed in the March Madness. They lost in their first game of March Madness to Arizona. This year I am hoping for a better run. That may mean a rematch with Arizona. Nevada has not made it to the Second Round since 2018. In 2018 they also made it to the Sweet Sixteen. They have never made it past the Sweet Sixteen.
Dayton has a record of 24-7 including going 14-4 in conference play. They lost in the quarterfinals of the A-10 Tournament. Dayton are the one of two A-10 teams in March Madness. This is Dayton’s 19th March Madness appearance. Their last appearance was in 2017. Last season they lost in the championship game of the A-10 Tournament. They were given a bid into the NIT tournament but declined to participate. Dayton was the runner up in March Madness in 1967. They have not made it past the first round since 2015.
Arizona beat Long Beach State. Nevada will have to play Arizona in a rematch from last season if they advance.
