Yesterday was the third day of March Madness. It all starts at 9:15 am PST.
Michigan State lead by seven points at halftime. The score was 63-49 Michigan State with around five minutes left in the game. Michigan state was leading the game 66-51 with just over a minute to go. The final score was 69-51 Michigan State. This is the first upset of March Madness. Michigan State advanced to the Second Round. They were in the second round last year. Michigan State would either play #1 North Carolina or #16 Wagner after this game.
Duquesne had an eight point lead at halftime. The score was 55-54 Duquesne with around five minutes to go in the game. BYU tied the game with a dunk with around two minutes to go. Duquesne took a five point lead on a layup with around 25 seconds to go. BYU knocked down a three pointer with five seconds left in the game to bring the score within two points. It would not be enough. Duquesne held on to win 71-67. That was the second of back to back upsets to start the day. Duquesne has advanced to the Second Round. This was their first March Madness win since 1977. After this game they would either play #3 Illinois or #14 Morehead State.
Creighton had a six point lead at halftime. The score was 39-34 going into the second half. Creighton had a seventeen point lead with around five minutes to go. Akron was unable to cut into that lead at all. The final score was 77-60 Creighton. Creighton has advanced to the Second Round. They also advanced to the Second Round in 2023. After this game Creighton would play either #6 South Carolina or #11 Oregon.
Arizona had a six point lead at halftime. The score was 41-35 Arizona. With around five minutes left in the game Arizona had a twenty three point lead. With a minute left in the game Arizona had a twenty point. Arizona did not let up. The final score was 85-65 Arizona. Arizona have advanced to the Second Round. The last time they advanced to the second round was in 2022. After this game Arizona would take on the winner of the #7 Dayton and #11 Nevada game.
North Carolina had a twelve point lead at halftime. The score was 40-28 going into the second half. With around five minutes left in the game North Carolina had a nineteen point lead. With a minute to go North Carolina had expanded their lead to thirty points. North Carolina did not let up. North Carolina won the game 90-62. This was the most dominating performance in the tournament up to that point. North Carolina advance to the Second Round. Last time they were in the second round was in 2022. #1 North Carolina will face #9 Michigan State in the Second Round.
Illinois had a one point lead at halftime. The score was 39-38 Illinois going into the second half. With around five minutes left Illinois had a twenty two point lead. With around a minute to go Illinois had a nineteen point lead. Morehead State was not able to cut down the deficit. The final score was 85-69 Illinois. Illinois are moving on to the Second Round. Last time they were in the Second Round was in 2022. #3 Illinois will take on #11 Duquesne.
Oregon had a five point lead at halftime. The score was 34-29 Oregon. With around five minutes to go Oregon had an eleven point lead. Oregon expanded their lead to fifteen by the final minute of the game. The final score was 87-73 Oregon. Oregon maintained control of the game and did not let up. This game was another upset. Oregon has advanced to the Second Round. This is their first appearance in the Second Round since 2021. #11 Oregon will play #3 Creighton in the Second Round.

The score was 34-25 Nevada going into the second half. Nevada got their lead up to seventeen. Nevada still had a nine point lead with around five minutes left in the game. Around three minutes to go in the game and Nevada only had a three point lead. Around two minutes in the game Dayton tied the game. Dayton took a three point lead with fifteen seconds to go and that was it. The final score was 60-63 Dayton. Dayton has advanced to the second round. The last time they were in the Second Round was in 2015. #7 Dayton will play #2 Arizona.
Texas had a sixteen point lead at halftime. The score was 27-11 Texas. With around five minutes left in the game Texas had a seven point lead. Around a minute to go Texas had a twelve point lead. Texas held on to win 56-44. Colorado State had a disappointing first half with a lack of offense. Colorado State did outscore Texas in the second half. The deficit was too much for Colorado State. After this game the Mountain West Conference teams have failed to win a game yet outside of the First Four. Texas has advanced to the Second Round. After this game Texas was going to play the winner of the #2 Tennessee and #15 Saint Peter’s game in the Second Round.
Oakland had a three point lead at halftime. The score was 38-35 Oakland. With around five minutes left in the game Oakland had a two point lead. With around a minute left in the game Kentucky got the game within one point. At the end of the game Oakland lead by three points. Kentucky tried to get a three point shot with a foul. The three missed with no foul call. Oakland won the game 80-76. While this was a close game this was the biggest upset of the day. Oakland now move on to the Second Round for the first time ever. After this game Oakland was waiting to see if they would play #6 Texas Tech or #11 NC State in the Second Round.
Gonzaga had a twenty three point lead at halftime. The score was 48-25 going into the second half. Gonzaga had a thirty two point lead with around five minutes left in the game. McNeese cut the lead down to twenty five with just over two minutes to go. McNeese was not able to cut down the lead. Gonzaga won the game 96-65. Gonzaga has advanced to the Second Round. They were also in the Second Round in 2023. After this game they were waiting on the #4 Kansas and #13 Samford game to see who they would play in the Second Round.
Iowa State had a seven point lead at halftime. The score was 40-33 Iowa State. With around five minutes left in the game Iowa State had extended their lead to twenty two points. With around a minute left in the game Iowa State had a nineteen point lead. Iowa State won the game 82-65. Iowa State advanced to the Second Round. The last time they advanced to the second round was in 2022. After this game Iowa State was waiting on the #7 Washington State and #10 Drake game to see who they would play in the Second Round.
Tennessee had a twenty six point lead at halftime. The score was 46-20 Tennessee going into the second half. With around five minutes to go in the game Tennessee had a twenty eight point lead. With over two and a half minutes to go Tennessee had a thirty four point lead. The final score was 83-49 Tennessee. Tennessee dominated this game. As a result they advance to the Second Round. Tennessee did make it to the Second Round in 2023. #2 Tennessee will play #7 Texas in the Second Round.
NC State had a four point lead at Halftime. The score was 37-33 NC State going into the second half. NC State had a ten point lead with just under five minutes to go in the game. They expanded that lead to twelve before a minute to go in the game. The final score was 80-67 NC State. This game was another upset. NC Sate has advanced to the Second Round. This is their first time in the second round since 2015. #11 NC State will play #14 Oakland in the Second Round.
Kansas had a ten point lead at halftime. The score was 48-38 Kansas. Kansas. With around five minutes left in the game Kansas had a one point lead. With around a minute to go in the game Kansas had a four point lead. Kansas would hold on to that lead to win 93-89. Kansas have advanced to the Second Round. They were in the Second round in 2023. #4 Kansas will face #5 Gonzaga in the Second Round.
Washington State had a four point lead at halftime. The score was 33-29 going into the second half. With around five minutes left in the game Drake had a one point lead. With just under two minutes left in the game Washington State took a two point lead from a contested three point shot. Washington State would hold onto the lead to win the game 66-61. Washington State advanced to the Second Round. This is their first time in the Second Round since 2008. #7 Washington State will take on #2 Iowa State in the Second Round.
