The Stanley Cup Playoffs continued yesterday with two games. The New York Rangers took on the Carolina Hurricanes in game two of their second round series. The Dallas Stars took on the Colorado Avalanche in game one of their second round series. There are two games today. The Florida Panthers are taking on the Boston Bruins in game two of their second round series. The Vancouver Canucks take on the Edmonton Oilers in game one of their second round series.
The New York Rangers played the Carolina Hurricanes in game two of their second round series. The Rangers were leading the series 1-0 after winning 4-3 in game one. This game was in New York. Halfway through the first period, #13 Alexis Lafrenière scored to give the Rangers the lead. His goal was assisted by #79 K’Andre Miller and #91 Alex Wennberg. With just under five minutes left in the first period, #59 Jake Guentzel scored for the Hurricanes to tie the game. With six seconds left in the first period, #7 Dmitry Orlov scored for the Hurricanes to take the lead. His goal was assisted by #76 Brady Skjei and #20 Sebastian Aho. The score was 2-1 Hurricanes after the first period.
With twelve minutes left in the second period, #13 Alexis Lafrenière scored again for the Rangers to tie the game. His goal was assisted by #23 Adam Fox and #10 Artemi Panarin. With under two minutes left in the second period, #59 Jake Guentzel scored again for the Hurricanes to take the lead. His goal was assisted by #20 Sebastian Aho and #77 Tony DeAngelo. The score was 3-2 Hurricanes heading into the third period.
With under fourteen minutes left in the third period, #20 Chris Kreider scored for the Rangers to tie the game. His goal was assisted by #26 Vincent Trocheck and #10 Artemi Panarin. The score was tied at 3-3 after regulation time. The game went into overtime.
Neither team scored in the first overtime. The game had to go to a second overtime. With twelve minutes left in the second overtime, #16 Vinvent Trocheck scored for the Rangers to win the game. His goal was assisted by #93 Mika Xibanejad and #10 Artemi Panarin. The final score was 4-3 Rangers. The New York Rangers now have a 2-0 series lead.
This game had the same final score as the last game. The Hurricanes kept getting the lead and the Rangers kept catching up. It took two overtime periods to find a winner. Almost a game and a half. The series now heads to Carolina. The Hurricanes have a huge game three that need to find a way win. It has been a good series so far with plenty of action.

The Dallas Stars played the Colorado Avalanche in game one of their second round series. This Stars beat the Golden Knights to reach the second round. The Avalanche beat the Jets to get to the second round. This game was in Dallas. With twelve minutes left in the first period, #20 Ryan Suter scored to give the Stars the lead. His goal was assisted by #95 Matt Duchene. Three minutes later #53 Wyatt Johnston scored to give the Stars a two goal lead. His goal was assisted by #16 Joe Pavelski and #14 Jamie Benn. With three minutes left in the first period, #14 Jamie Benn scored to give the Stars a three goal lead. His goal was assisted by #21 Jason Robertson and #4 Miro Heiskanen. The score was 3-0 Stars after the first period.
With fourteen minutes left in the second period, #13 Valeri Nichushkin scored to get the Avalanche on the scoreboard. His goal was assisted by #8 Cale Makar and #29 Nathan MacKinnon. Halfway through the second period, #8 Cale Makar scored for the Avalanche. His goal was assisted by #13 Valeri Nichushkin and #96 Mikko Rantanen. The score was 3-2 Stars going into the third period.
Under a minute into the third period, #29 Nathan MacKinnon scored for the Avalanche to tie the game. His goal was assisted by #96 Mikko Rantanen and #8 Cale Makar. The score was tied at 3-3 after regulation time. For the second game in a row, there would be overtime.
With just under nine minutes left in overtime, #28 Miles Wood scored to win the game for the Avalanche. #11 Andrew Cogliano and #49 Samuel Girard got the assists. The final score was 4-3 Avalanche. The Colorado Avalanche now have a 1-0 series lead.
This game saw an incredible come back from the Avalanche. The Stars had a three goal lead. They blew it. The Avalanche completed the comeback in overtime. This is going to be a great series.

The Florida Panthers take on the Boston Bruins in game two of their second round series. The Bruins won game one and have a 1-0 series lead. This game is in Florida. Puck drop is scheduled for 4:30 PM. Will the Panthers come back stronger in game two? Will the Bruins continue to find ways to beat the Panthers?
The number three seed Vancouver Canucks will take on the number five seed Edmonton Oilers in the second round. The Canucks finished the regular season with a .610 win percentage. The Oilers finished the regular season with a win percentage of .598. The Canucks won all four of their regular season meetings. Their last meeting was on April 13th. The Canucks won that game 3-1.
The Vancouver Canucks beat the Nashville Predators in six games to reach the second round. The Edmonton Oilers beat the Los Angeles Kings in five games to advance to the second round. The Canucks and Predators series was a close one with the final four games being decided by one goal. The Oilers Kings series was not close. The Kings put up a fight in game two but there was two games where the Oilers won by three or more goals and a game where the Kings did not score. The Oilers offense and defense is on a roll after their first round win. This should be a solid high scoring series.
