The Stanley Cup Playoffs continued last night with one game. It was game four of the Eastern Conference Finals. That series is between the New York Rangers and Florida Panthers. The Rangers were leading the series going into yesterdays game. There is one game happening tonight. Tonights game is game four of the Western Conference Finals. That series is between the Dallas Stars and Edmonton Oilers. The Dallas Stars are currently lead the Western Conference Finals.
The New York Rangers took on the Florida Panthers in game four of the Eastern Conference Finals. The Rangers were leading the series 2-1 going into the game. The Rangers took the series lead after winning game three 5-4 in overtime. This game was in Florida. Halfway through the first period, #16 Vincent Trocheck scored to give the rangers the lead. His goal was assisted by #10 Artemi Panarin and #23 Adam Fox. The score was 1-0 Rangers after the first period.
Halfway through the second period, #9 Am Bennett scored for the Panthers to tie the game. His goal was assisted by #42 Gustav Forsling and #72 Sergei Bobrovsky. With seven minutes left in the second period, #23 Carter Verhaeghe scored to give the Panthers the lead. #19 Matthew Tkachuk and #16 Aleksander Bsrkov got the assists. The score was 2-1 Panthers going into the third period.
Four minutes into the third period, #13 Alexis Lafernière scored for the Rangers to tie the game. His goal was assisted by #23 Adam Fox and #10 Artemi Panarin. The score was tied at 2-2 after the third period. For the third staight game in a row in this series, the game went into overtime. Just over a minute into overtime, #13 Sam Reinhart scored for the Panthers to win the game. His goal was assisted by #16 Aleksander Barkov and #62 Brandon Montour. The final score was 3-2 Panthers. The Eastern Conference Finals is now tied at 2-2.
This was another close game in this series. At this rate five out of seven of these games will go to overtime. Whoever wins game seven overtime will win the series. This series has been too close to call. Three overtimes in a row is crazy. The series is back to tied. Whoever wins the next game will have the chance to close out the series in game six. If Florida wins game five, I think the Rangers will force a game seven. If the Rangers win game five, I think game six will be close with the Rangers likely winning. I think if the Panthers win game six it will be a close game going to overtime. Either way this has been a very close series.
Game five of the Eastern Conference Finals will be on Thursday, May 30th at 5:00 PM. That game will be in Florida.
