The Tahoe Knight Monsters of the ECHL announced their schedule for the 2024-25 season will be releasing next week. According to the team the schedule will be releasing on Tuesday, June 4th, 2024. They also said that their schedule will be released at 11:00 AM PST. This is exciting news. Every day we get closer and closer to the team taking the ice. The reality of professional hockey back in the Reno Tahoe area becomes more real with every passing moment. I am excited. I know that on top of trying to make all of the Tahoe Knight Monsters games there will be some away games I like to go to.
The ECHL has had a seventy two game schedule for a while. That is ten less games than the National Hockey League. Of course there are some teams who don’t get to play all seventy two games. That is rare. The season will be from October to April. The Tahoe Knight Monsters will likely have around thirty six home games. That should be plenty of opportunities for every to catch a game including people who do not have season tickets. The Tahoe Monster Knights will likely play most of their games against their divisional teams. We know the alignment when the schedule comes out. We will know how is in our division when the schedule releases. The Utah Grizzlies (Salt Lake City) and the Idaho Steelheads (Boise) will be the closest teams. Both of those teams are close enough that they are on my list for road trips. Honestly I would like to visit all of the ECHL cities but I don’t think that is possible for me. Rapid City and Kansas City will likely be the only other away cities I might visit. I may also try to go to the All-Star game depending on where that is. That does not include the playoffs. I am hoping to be at the first Knight Monsters playoff game weather that is a home or away game. If they make the Kelly Cup Finals, that could end up being another away trip. If there was an ECHL team within two or three hours I would be at every away game there. The only thing I am concerned about the schedule is the weather in Tahoe. The Lake Tahoe Lakers have had to cancel several games in the past. I am curious to see if the Knight Monsters will run into the same problems or if they will try to schedule around the weather by not having games in late December or early January. Rescheduling games could be a better option than scheduling no home games for a month or more. Anyway I am excited and can’t wait to see what the schedule looks like.
