The Stanley Cup Playoffs continued last night with one game. It was game six of the Eastern Conference Finals. That game was between the New York Rangers and the Florida Panthers. The Florida Panthers were leading the series 3-2 going into last nights game. There is one game going on today. Todays game is game six of the Western Conference Finals. That series is between the Dallas Stars and Edmonton Oilers. The Oilers are leading that series 3-2. The Oilers have the chance to advance to the Stanley Cup Finals with a win today.
The New York Rangers took on the Florida Panthers in game six of the Eastern Conference Finals. The Panthers were leading the series 3-2 going into the game. The Panthers took the series lead with a 3-2 win in game five. If the Rangers won game six, they would force game seven. If the Panthers won game six, the Rangers would be eliminated. This game was in Florida. Under a minute into the game, #9 Sam Bennett scored to give the Panthers the lead. His goal was assisted by #17 Evan Rodrigues. The score was 1-0 Panthers after the first period.
Neither team scored in the second period. The score was still 1-0 Panthers going into the third period. Halfway through the third period, #10 Vladimir Tarasenko scored to give the Panthers a two goal lead. His goal was assisted by #15 Anton Lundell and #27 Eetu Luostarinen. With under two minutes left in the game, #10 Artemi Panarin scored for the Rangers to bring the lead back down to one goal. His goal was assisted by #16 Vincent Trocheck and #23 Adam Fox. The Final score was 2-1 Panthers. The Florida Panthers have won the Eastern Conference Finals. The Florida Panthers are the 2024 Eastern Conference Champions. The New York Rangers have been eliminated from the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs. The Florida Panthers have advanced to the 2024 Stanley Cup Finals.
The Panthers were able to hold onto their one goal lead for majority of the game. Their second goal in the third period sealed the win. This series was back and fourth and really close. There was three straight overtimes in this series. There was also five games that were decided by one goal. This was a really good series.
The Florida Panthers will take on the Dallas Stars or Edmonton Oilers in the Stanley Cup Finals.
