The Stanley Cup Playoffs continued last night with one game. It was game six of the Western Conference Finals. That game was between the Dallas Stars and the Edmonton Oilers. The Edmonton Oilers were leading the series 3-2 going into last nights game. Prior to last nights game, the Florida Panthers advanced to the Stanley Cup Finals. They were waiting to see who they would play. They would play the Western Conference Finals winner. There are no games today.

The Dallas Stars took on the Edmonton Oilers in game six of the Western Conference Finals. The Oilers were leading the series 3-2 going into the game. The Oilers took the series lead after winning game five 3-1. If the Stars won they would force a game seven. IF the Oilers won they would win the Western Conference Finals. Elimination was on the line for the Stars. A Stanley Cup Finals birth was on the line for the Oilers. This game was in Edmonton. Five minutes into the first period, #97 Connor McDavid scored to give the Oilers the lead. His goal was assisted by #29 Leon Draisaitl and #2 Evan Bouchard. With four minutes left in the first period, #18 Zac Hyman scored to give the Oilers a two goal lead. His goal was assisted by #97 Connor McDavid and #2 Evan Bouchard. The score was 2-0 Oilers after the first period.

Neither team scored in the second period. The score was still 2-0 Oilers going into the final period. Halfway through the third period, #27 Mason Marchment scored for the Stars. The Oilers took the lead in the first period and were able to hold onto it. Their ability to shut the Stars down has played a huge part in them winning this series. Game one went into double overtime. The Oilers found a way to score and win that game. The entire Western Conference Finals may have gone differently if they did not win that game. The Stars turned the series around winning both game two and three by two goals. The Oilers tied the series back up in game four. The Oilers took the lead in game five where they shut Dallas down for two periods. Then the Oilers win the series here in game six. It was a close series. Was it back and fourth. Game one set the tone that this would be a close series. In game six the Stars came really close to tying the game. The final four teams in this years playoffs were all really good. Each one of them would have put up a solid fight for the cup. The Conference Finals was the best hockey we have seen this season so far.

The Edmonton Oilers will take on the Florida Panthers in the 2024 Stanley Cup Finals. This will be the Oilers first Stanley Cup Finals appearance since the 2005-06 season.
