The National Hockey League Winter Classic is not taking place in 2025. For the first time in NHL history the NHL Winter Classic for the 2024-25 season will take place in 2024. This will be the first time in NHL history that two NHL Winter Classics will take place in the same year. The NHL Winter Classic will be on December 31st, 2024. This will be the first ever NHL Winter Classic on New Years Eve and not in January. This will be the seventeenth NHL Winter Classic. The NHL Winter Classic will be returning to Chicago.
The next NHL Winter Classic will be in Chicago. The game will be between the Chicago Blackhawks and the St. Louis Blues. The game will be at Wrigley Field. This will be the second NHL Winter hosted at Wrigley Field. The last time was in 2009. That was the second ever NHL Winter Classic. This will be the fifth time that the NHL Winter Classic will feature the Chicago Blackhawks. This will be the third NHL Winter Classic to feature the St. Louis Blues. This game is a rematch of the 2017 NHL Winter Classic. The St. Louis Blues won that game 4-1 at Busch Stadium in St. Louis.
The logo for the NHL Winter Classic was released with not a lot of press. The Big stand out with the logo is that there is no year on it. Most of the Winter Classic logos in the past have had the date or year on it. The design seems to be inspired by the outfield wall at Wrigley Field. The background of the logo has the Wrigley Field sign, some bricks and Ivy. The logo also has the event name and location. It has the NHL logo. I do think It is one of the weaker NHL Winter Classic logos. I do still like it.
