I am back with another concept. In todays concept I have reimagined the 2024 UEFA Champions League final as if it were ice hockey. The UEFA Champions League is the top club soccer competition in Europe. The game was between Real Madrid CF of the La Liga in Spain and Borussia Dortmund of the Bundesliga in Germany. The 2024 UEFA Champions League final took place at the 90,000 capacity Wembley Stadium in London. Real Madrid CF won the game 2-0. This concept will be like my MLS Cup X Ice Hockey Concept, FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 Ice Hockey Concept, and my Qatar 2022 Ice Hockey Concept.
The logo for the 2024 UEFA Champions League final is the same in this concept as in real life. The logo incorporates the UEFA Champions League logo, a design of the trophy and a London 24 wordmark. In the application of this design I have seen all three elements used together and separately in different ways.
The Borussia Dortmund colors are black and yellow. Their crest os a circle with BVB 09 inside of it. Above the crest are two stars. BVB are the club initials. The club was founded in 1909 which is why they have 09 on their crest. They have two versions of their crest. One with two stars and one without the stars. The two stars represent their five Bundesliga titles. The Real Madrid CF colors are blue, gold, and red. Their crest is a circle with an MCF monogram and a crown. The crown and the name Real have to do with the Spanish monarchy. The MCF monogram represents the team name.
In a lot of European sports the larger soccer teams own clubs in other sports. These teams in other sports often share the same name, logo, and colors. A lot like the in NCAA. Ice Hockey is no exception. It could be possibility to see these two soccer clubs own hockey teams. If Borussia Dortmund had an ice hockey team they would play in the Borussia Dortmund (DEL). If Real Madrid CF had a hockey team they would be in the Liga Nacional de Hockey Hielo (LNDHH). Madrid does have a hockey team. They are CH Madrid. FC Barcelona who play in the La Liga with Real Madrid CF, own one one of the teams in the top level of Spain hockey. The FC Barcelona ice hockey team use the same name, colors, and logos as the soccer team.
Borussia Dortmund are sponsored by Puma. They have a yellow and black jersey. The pattern on the jersey is inspired by the pattern seen on their soccer jersey. On the front is their crest with two stars. On the shoulder is the UEFA Champions League patch. On the collar is “BVB”. The Real Madrid CF jersey is white, gold and blue. The stripes on the jersey are inspired by their soccer jersey. On the front is their crest. On the shoulder is the UEFA Champions League patch. On the collar is “¡HALA MADRID!”.
