The Games of the XXXII Olympiad start this morning. Things get started with soccer. France won the bid to host the games thus the games were nick named Paris 2024. The go from July 24th to August 6th. Paris is the primary city but events are also being held in sixteen other cities. There are 10,500 athletes representing 206 nations. Those athletes will be competing in thirty two sports. This is the first Olympics since 2018 to not be restricted by COVID-19. This will be the first Summer Olympics with fans in the stands since 2016. There were a lot of questions earlier this year if Paris 2024 would even happen. Here we are. The world is still divided as ever. Hopefully in the next few weeks, Paris 2024 can bring people together through sport.

The logo for Paris 2024 combines the gold medal, the flame, and Marianne who is the personification of the French Republic. It is a stylish minimal design. Below the design is the event name. Below that is the Olympic or Paralympic logo.

The design of the Paris 2024 torch is minimalist. That keeps it on brand with the logo design. Paris is at the center of the art world. The torch for these games is a brilliantly beautiful representation of Paris and France. The torch relay started in April and will go until July 26th. Custom Louis Vuitton luggage was made for the Paris 2024 torch.

The medals for Paris 2024 are quite unique. There are two different designs. One for the Olympics and one for the Paralympics. All of the medals have a piece of the Eiffel Tower in them. On the front is a hexagon piece of the Eiffel Tower joined into the medals. On the front is the Olympic or Paralympic logo. The front also has a starburst pattern. The back of the Olympic medals has a design of the goddess of victory. On the back of the Paralympic medal is a design of the Eiffel Tower. The medals will be handed out in a custom Louis Vuitton box. Louis Vuitton also made a custom “trunk” for the medals.

The Paris 2024 pictograms are unique. They are the first ones since 1968 to depict the sport rather than an athlete or multiple athletes playing the sport. Pictograms are important as they need to depict information without language. Having no athletes in any of the pictograms helps separate the events from each other visually. Unlike in previous Olympics they did not play around with the negative space or bounding of the pictograms. The Paris 2024 Pictograms are a departure from other parts of the branding by going for a less minimal look. This contrasts and complements the rest of the other branding elements such as patterns in a very cohesive way.

My favorite are still the London 2012 pictograms. For the summer games at least. I really like the hard lines and edges of those ones. I like how Sydney 2000, Athens 2004, Beijing 2006, and Rio 2016 played around with the bounding of the pictograms. I like how Tokyo 2020 played around with the negative space.

There are 206 Olympic teams participating in Paris 2024. Africa sent the most teams. The United States sent the most athletes with 592. The big story with the teams is that Russia and Belarus are still not allowed to participate due to the on going war in Ukraine. They can send individual athletes to participate if they qualify and the governing body for their sport allows it. The United States won the most gold medals and overall medals at Tokyo 2020.

I do not follow aquatics too much outside of the Olympics. I am not a fan of artistic swimming. ROC (Russia) are the raining gold medalist but will not compete in Paris 2024. Artistic Swimming at Paris 2024 will take place at the Paris Aquatic Centre between August 5th and 10th. I do watch the diving in the Olympics. China won all but one gold medal in diving in 2020. Diving is also at the Paris Aquatic Centre. Diving at Paris 2024 will take place from July 27th to August 10th. Swimming at the 2024 Summer Olympics will take place from July 27th to August 9th. It will take place at Paris La Défense Arena and Pont Alexandre III. The United States won the most gold in swimming in the last olympics. Water Polo is my favorite aquatic sport in the Olympics. In 2020 the United States and Serbia tied with one gold medal each in the event. Water polo at the 2024 Summer Olympics will take place at the Paris Aquatic Centre and the the Paris La Défense Arena. Water polo will take place from July 27th to August 11th.

I follow archery. I will be doing an in depth preview on the event later. Archery at Paris 2024 will take place at Hôtel des Invalides. It is scheduled for July 25th to August 4th. South Korea won four out of five medals at Tokyo 2020. The United states did not win any medals in Archery at Tokyo 2020.

There are a total of forty eight athletics events at Paris 2024. The athletics events are always fun to watch. The United States took home the most gold medals in athletics at Tokyo 2020. The events take place at four different venues. The main venue being Stade de France which will host track and field events. There are a total of 1,810 competitors. The athletics events will take place between August 1st and 11th.

Badminton is another sport I do not follow that closely. I played it casually when Ii was younger. Like other racket sports I find it repetitive some times. China won the most goal in badminton at Tokyo 2020. Badminton at the 2024 Summer Olympics will take place at the Porte de la Chapelle Arena. The event will go from July 27th to August 5th.

I casually follow basketball. I like to watch and follow the NCAA more than the NBA. I do still casually follow the NBA. I used to follow it a lot more. I do enjoy going to games and playing. I used to go to Reno Bighorns games when they were still around. I will be doing a more in depth preview for basketball later. Basketball will be played at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy and Barcy Arena. 3×3 basketball will be played at Place de la Concorde. Basketball will take place between July 27th and August 11th. The United States won three out of four goal medals in basketball at Tokyo 2020.

I do like Boxing. I will watch a fight if it is on TV or streaming online. I do not follow it closely. Boxing at the 2024 Summer Olympics will take place at Parc des Expositions de Villepinte and Stade Roland Garros. The event will go from July 27th to August 10th. There will be 248 competitors in 13 events. Cuba won the most goal medals at Tokyo 2023.

Breaking is a new event for Paris 2024. I have never watched a break dancing competition. I am not really into it. I see some stuff on social. I like a lot of people, do not know what to expect from this event. It is taking place at Place de la Concorde. It will be on August 9th and 10th.

I see people Canoeing in Reno all the time. I have done it myself for fun. Canoeing at the 2024 Summer Olympics will take place at the National Olympic Nautical Stadium of Île-de-France. The events will go from July 27th to August 10th. Hungary won the most gold medals in Canoeing at Tokyo 2020.

There are twenty two events for cycling. My favorite is BMX racing and mountain biking. Great Britain won the most gold medals in cycling at Tokyo 2020. Cycling will take place at seven different venues. Cycling will go from July 27th to August 11th.

Equestrian is another sport I do not watch too much. There will be six events at the Palace of Versailles. It will go from July 27th to August 6th. Germany won the most gold medals in equestrian at Tokyo 2020.

I have always liked fencing. Thanks to things like Star Wars and Zorro, I have been a sword fighting fan for a long time. My brother has recently gotten into sword fighting to the point where he is taking classes. Fencing at the 2024 Summer Olympics will take place at the Grand Palais. It will go from July 27th to August 4th. ROC (Russia) won the most goal medals in fencing at Tokyo 2020.

Being an ice hockey fan and player does not translate to being a field hockey fan. I do enjoy watching it sometimes. I am just more of a fan who will only watch it if the USA is playing. Field hockey at the 2024 Summer Olympics will take place at Stade Yves-du-Manoir. The events will go from July 27th to August 9th. Belgium and the Netherlands won gold at Tokyo 2020.

I follow soccer. It is the event I watch the most at the summer olympics. I will be doing a whole event previre for this as well. Soccer will take place at seven different venues. It will go from July 24th to August 10th. Brazil won the mens event at Tokyo 2020. Their mens team failed to qualify for Paris 2024. Canada is back to defend their gold medal in the women’s event from Tokyo 2020.

I do find golf boring. Why not bring mini golf into the olympics? Golf at the 2024 Summer Olympics will tkae place at Le Golf National. It will take place from August 1st through 10th. The United States won both gold medals at Tokyo 2020.

I do like to watch Gymnastics but only in the Olympics. The only part I don’t really like is rhythmic gymnastics. They will have eighteen events at two different locations. China win the most gold in gymnastics at Tokyo 2020. Gymnastics will go be on August 2nd and August 8th through 10th.

Handball is cool and I wish it was bigger in the United States. Fast pace games make it fun to watch. France won both handball gold medals at Tokyo 2020. Handball at the 2024 Summer Olympics will take place at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles and Stade Pierre-Mauroy. It will go from July 25th to August 11th.

I like combat sports. Judo is cool. I wish Karate was not just for Tokyo 2020. I would love to see MMA in the olympics. Japan won the most Judo medals at Tokyo 2020. Judo at the 2024 Summer Olympics will take place at the Grand Palais Éphémère. It will go from July 27th to August 3rd.

I don’t know much about this event beside it is a combination of a few other events. Great Britain won both gold medals at Tokyo 2020. Modern pentathlon at the 2024 Summer Olympics will take place at North Paris Arena and Palace of Versailles. It will go from August 8th to 11th.

Rowing at the 2024 Summer Olympics will take place at the National Olympic Nautical Stadium of Île-de-France. It will go from July 27th to August 3rd. New Zealand won the most rowing medals at Tokyo 2020.

Rugby Sevens is another top summer olympic sport for me. Rugby sevens at the 2024 Summer Olympics will take place at the Stade de France. It will go from July 24th to July 30th. New Zealand and Fiji won the gold medals at Tokyo 2020.

Sailing has always been a fascinating sport to me. I like auto racing so sailing is a natural fit. Sailing at the 2024 Summer Olympics will take place at the Marseille Marina. It will go from July 28th to August 8th. Great Britain won the most gold medals in sailing at Tokyo 2020.

As an American I am obligated by law to watch the shooting events in the olympics. Not really. I do enjoy the shooting events. Shooting at the 2024 Summer Olympics will take place at the National Shooting Center. It will go from July 27th to August 5th. There are 15 events and 340 competitors. China won the most gold medals in shooting at Tokyo 2020.

Skateboarding is another one of my top events to watch. Skateboarding at the 2024 Summer Olympics will take place at Place de la Concorde. It will go from July 27th to August 7th. Japan won the most gold medals in skateboarding at Tokyo 2020.

This is another sport that my brother is really into. A few years back he was at the rock wall place every day. Sport climbing at the 2024 Summer Olympics will take place at Le Bourget Sport Climbing Venue. It will go from August 5th to 10th. Slovenia and Spain won the gold medals at Tokyo 2020.

Surfing at the 2024 Summer Olympics will take place in Teahupo’o which is all the way in French Polynesia. French Polynesia is on the other side of the planet from France. It will take place from July 27th to 31st. Brazil and the United States won the gold medals for surfing at Tokyo 2020.

Table tennis at the 2024 Summer Olympics will take place at the Paris Expo Porte de Versailles. It will go from July 27th ti August 10th. China won the most gold medals in this event at Tokyo 2020.

Taekwondo at the 2024 Summer Olympics will be at the Grand Palais. It will go from August 7th to 10th. ROC (Russia) won the most gold medals in Taekwondo at Tokyo 2020.

Tennis at the 2024 Summer Olympics will be at Stade Roland Garros. It will be from July 27th to August 4th. ROC (Russia) had the most tennis medals at Tokyo 2020.

Triathlon at the 2024 Summer Olympics will take place at Pont Alexandre III. It will be from July 30th to August 5th. Great Britain won the most medals in this event at Tokyo 2020.

There are two different types of volleyball at the olympics. Indoor and beach. Indoor will take place at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles. Beach will take place at Eiffel Tower Stadium. Volleyball will go from July 27th to August 11th. The United States won the most gold medals in volleyball at Tokyo 2020.

Weightlifting at the 2024 Summer Olympics will take place at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles. It will go from August 7th to 11th. China won the most weightlifting gold medals at Tokyo 2020.

Wrestling at the 2024 Summer Olympics will take place at Grand Palais Éphémère. It will go from August 5th to 11th. Japan won the most wrestling gold medals at Tokyo 2020.
