Archery at the Games of the XXXIII Olympiad started earlier this week. Check out my preview of the event if you have not already. On the first day of the event was the women’s individual ranking round and the men’s individual ranking round. Archery will resume tonight after midnight. Hopefully they will not get rained out like some of the other events. Archery continues tomorrow with Women’s team events. It continues throughout the week. The big news to come out of archery so far is that Sihyeon Lim has set a new Olympic and world record for the ranking rounds. Her score of 694 beats the previous records of 692 (world record) and 680 (Olympic record).

In the women’s individual ranking rounds, Sihyeon Lim of South Korea won got the highest score at 694 out of a possible 720. She got 48 10’s and 21 X’s. Sihyeon Nam of South Korea got second place with a score of 688. Xiaolei Yang from china got third with a score of 673. Casey Kaufhold of the United States got fourth place with a score of 672. She was one point off from third place. Catalina Gnoriega of the United States got 38th place with a score of 648. Jennifer Mucino of the United States got 57th place with a score of 625. Alondra Rivera from Puerto Rico came in last place with a score of 547. The spread between the United States archers is kind of dramatic. One got into the top five. The rest are outside of the top 35. The United States women’s archery team ended up ranking 8th out of twelve. The United States will take on Chinese Taipei in the first round of the Paris 2024 women’s archery event tomorrow.

In the men’s individual rankings rounds, Woojin Kim of South Korea scored 686 out of a possible 720 with 17 x’s and 43 10’s. Woojin Kim holds the current Olympic record. Je Deok Kim of South Korea got second with a score of 682. Florian Unruh of Germany got third with a score of got third place with a score of 681. Brady Ellison of the United States got a score of 677. He is the current world record holder. Brady is the only person representing the United States in the men’s archery at Paris 2024. The United States does not a team in the Paris 2024 men’s archery team event. Brady Ellison will take on Abdullah Yıldırmış of Turkey in the first round of the Paris 2024 archery men’s individual elimination rounds. Abdullah Yıldırmış is ranked 58th and got a score of 640 during the ranking rounds.

South Korea are ranked first in the mixed team event. Germany are ranked second. The United States are ranked third. The mixed team event will be happening later this week. The United States will be taking on Uzbekistan in the first round of the Paris 2024 archery mixed team event. Uzbekistan are ranked 14th.

The Paris 2024 archery women’s team event is tomorrow. It starts at 12:30 am PST. They will have the round of 16, quarterfinals, semifinals, and medal matches tomorrow.
