Archery at the Games of the XXXIII Olympiad continued today. Today was the men’s team event. Twelve teams participated in a single elimination bracket. Each round was best of five sets. Each set consists of three arrows per archer. The top four ranked teams got a bye into the quarterfinals. South Korea won this event at Tokyo 2020.
South Korea were ranked first. The host nation France were ranked second. India were ranked third. China were ranked fourth. Chinese Taipei were ranked fifth. Turkey were ranked sixth. Italy were ranked seventh. Japan were ranked eighth. Mexico were ranked ninth. Kazakhstan were ranked tenth. Colombia were ranked eleventh. Great Britain were ranked twelfth. The United States did not have a team for this event.
In the preliminary round, Japan upset Mexico by winning two sets and tying a set. Chinese Taipei swept Great Britain three sets to zero. Turkey beat Colombia three sets to two. Italy beat Kazakhstan by winning two sets and tying two sets.
In the quarterfinals, South Korea swept Japan three sets to zero. China beat Chinese Taipei by tying a set and then winning back to back sets. Turkey upset India by winning three sets to one. France beat Italy three sets to one.
In the semifinals, South Korea defeated China by tying the first set then winning back to back sets. France beat Turkey three sets to two. That one come down to a shoot off. China would face off against Turkey in the bronze medal match. South Korea would face host nation France in the gold medal match
In the bronze medal match, Turkey won the first set by one point. China won the second set by one point. Turkey won the third set by one point. Turkey won the fourth set by two points. Turkey won the bronze medal match three sets to two. Turkey have won the Paris 2024 archery men’s team bronze medal. This is Turkeys first medal at this Olympics.
In the gold medal match, they tied in the first set. South Korea won the second set by one point. South Korea won the third set by three points. South Korea won the gold medal match by tying the first set then winning back to back sets. France have won the Paris 2024 archery men’s team silver medal. South Korea won the Paris 2024 archery men’s team gold medal. This is their seventh gold medal in this event. This is their ninth overall medal in this event. This is the third Olympics in a row that they have won this event. They have won this event the last six out of seven times and seven out of ten times.
The Paris 2024 archery individual eliminations start tomorrow. It starts at 3:00 am PST. They will have the round of 64 and the round of 32. tomorrow.
