Archery at the Games of the XXXIII Olympiad continued Tuesday. Tuesday saw the individual rounds start. Both the men’s and women’s individuals started. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday are the round of 64 and round of 32 for the individual events. Like with the team events it is a best of five sets. Each archer shoots three arrows per set. Mete Gazoz of Turkey won the men’s individual archery event at Tokyo 2020. An San won the the women’s individual archery event at Tokyo 2020.
In the men’s event, the section one and section two brackets started. In section one during the round of 64, the number one seed Kim Woo-jin of South Korea beat the number sixty four seed Israel Madaye of Chad three sets to zero. The thirty two ranked Lin Zih-Siang of Chinese Taipei beat the thirty three ranked Pablo Acha of Spain. Zih-Siang won the first two sets then the second two sets tied. The seventeenth ranked Marcus Vinicius D’Almeida of Brazil beat the forty eighth ranked Mykhailo Usach three sets to four. The forty ninth seed Fumiya Saito of Japan beat the sixteen seed Nicholas D’Amour of the United states Virgin Islands. They tied on two sets, Nicholas D’Amour won one set, and Fumiya Saito won two sets. The nine seed Thomas Chirault of France beat the fifty sixth seed Andrés Hernández of Colombia. Thomas Chirault won three sets and they tied in one set. The twenty four seed Tai Yu-hsuan of Chinese Taipei swept the fifty sixth seed Antti Tekoniemi of Finland three sets to zero. The twenty five seed Tang Chih-chun of Chinese Taipei beat the forty seed Arif Dwi Pangestu of Indonesia. They tied on the first set then Tang Chih-chun won three sets in a row. The number eight seed Mete Gazoz of Turkey beat Andrés Gallardo of Chile three sets to zero.
In section two during the round of 64, the thirty six seed Eric Peters of Canada beat Ilfat Abdullin of Kazkhstan. Eric Peters won two sets. Ilfat Abdullin won one set. They tied on two sets. The number four seed Dhiraj Bommadevara of India beat Adam Li of the Czech Republic. they tied the first set then Dhiraj Bommadevara won three sets in a row.
In section one during the round of 32, the number one seed Kim Woo-jin of South Korea beat Li Zih-siang three sets to zero. The nine seed Thomas Chirault of host nation France went to a shoot off against Tai Yu-hsuan of Chinese Taipei. They both won two sets and tied a set. Thomas Chirault ended up winning the shoot off. The number eight seed Mete Gazoz of Turkey beat the number twenty five seed Tang Chih-chun of Chinese Taipei.
In section two during the round of 32, Erick Peters of Canada beat Dhiraj Bommadevara of India. Their match went to a shoot off. They both won a two sets and they tied one set. In the shoot off, Dhiraj Bommadevara scored a ten and Erick Peters scored an X. That was all of the men’s individual archery for Tuesday at Paris 2024. Most of section two, all of section three, and all of section four have not shot yet. The United States have not shot in this tournament yet.
In the women’s event, the section three and section four brackets started. In section three during the round of 64, the number three seed Yang Xiaolei of China beat the number sixty two seed Rihab Elwalid of Tunisia. They tied one set, Rihab Elwalid won one set, and Yang Xiaolei won three sets. The number thirty seed Lisa Barbelin of France beat Gabriela Schloesser of the Netherlands. They tied on two swts and Lisa Barbelin won two sets. The nineteen seed Ana Luiza Sliachticas Caetano of Brazil beat the forty six seed Žana Pintarič of Slovakia three sets to one. The fourteen seed Syaqiera Mashayikh of Malaysia beat the fifty one seed Alexandra Mîrca of Moldova three sets to zero. The fifty four seed Wioleta Myszor of Poland upset the eleven seed Ankita Bhakat of India three sets to two. The twenty two seed Bhajan Kaur of India beat the forty three seed Syifa Nurafifah Kamal of Indonesia. They tied the first set, Syifa Nurafifah Kamal won one set, Bhajan Kaur won three sets in a row. The thirty eight seed Catalina GNoriega of the United States beat the twenty seven seed Katharina Bauer. Catalina GNoriega swept Katharina Bauer three sets to zero. Catalina GNoriega won the first set by three points, the second set by three points, and the last set by one point. The six seed Diananda Choirunisa of Indonesia beat the fifty nine seed Laura van der Winkel of the Netherlands. They tied on one set and Diananda Choirunisa won three sets.
In section four during the round of 64, the seven seed Michelle Kroppen of Germany beat the fifty eight seed Giorgia Cesarini of San Marino. They tied one set, Giorgia Cesarini won one set, and Michelle Kroppen won three sets. The thirty nine seed Yaylagul Ramazanova of Azerbaijan beat the twenty six seed An Qixuan of China. Their match came down to a shoot off. An Qixuan got a nine and Yaylagul Ramazanova got a ten.
In section three during the round of 32, the number thirty seed Lisa Barbelin of France upset the number three seed Yang Xiaolei of China. They tied two sets and Lisa Barbelin won two sets. The nineteen seed Ana Luiza Sliachticas Caetano of Brazil beat the number fourteen seed Syaqiera Mashayikh of Malaysia. Their match came down to a shooto off. They tied three sets and both won one set. Syaqiera Mashayikh got an eight in the shoot off and Ana Luiza Sliachticas Caetano got a nine in the shoot off. The twenty two seed Bhajan Kaur of india swept Wioleta Myszor of Poland three sets to zero. The six seed Diananda Choirunisa of Indonesia beat the thirty eight seed Catalina GNoriega of the United States. Their match went to a shoot off. Catalina GNoriega won the first set by one point. They tied the second and third sets. Diananda Choirunisa won the fourth set by one point. They tied the fifth set. Catalina GNoriega got an eight in the shoot off and Diananda Choirunisa got a ten in the shoot off.
In section four during the round of 32, the number seven seed Michelle Kroppen of Germany beat the thirty nine seed Yaylagul Ramazanova of Azerbaijan. Michelle Kroppen won three sets to one. Most of section four did not shoot on Tuesday. Section one has not shot yet. Section two has not shot yet.
The Paris 2024 archery individual eliminations continue on Wednesday. It starts at 3:00 am PST. The round of 64 and the round of 32 will continue.
