Back in September the logo for the 2025 National Hockey League Stadium Series was revealed. The 2025 NHL Stadium series is an outdoor ice hockey that will be played at Ohio Stadium in Columbus Ohio. The game will be between the Columbus Blue Jackets and the Detroit Red Wings. The game will be on Saturday, March 1st, 2025. This will be the sixteenth NHL Stadium Series game. The NHL Stadium Series started in 2014 after the success of the NHL Winter Classic, the NHL Heritage Classic, and other outdoor ice hockey games. This will be the Columbus Blue Jackets first appearance in the event. This is also the Blue Jackets first outdoor game. This will be the second NHL Stadium Series game to feature the Detroit Red Wings. They were last in the NHL Stadium series in 2016. This will be the fifth outdoor NHL game to feature the Detroit Red Wings. We got he 2025 NHL Winter Classic logo back in May. Now we have the 2025 NHL Stadium Series logo.
The logo has elements of the stadium in its shape. The logo is in the Columbus Blue Jackets colors. The logo incorporates the NHL logo. It has the event name. It has the stadium name. It has the year on it. It also has the Navy Federal Credit Union logo on it. The Standout for this logo is the script font and the use of the word “the” on the logo. The script font seems to be a reference to the Ohio State marching band. The use of the word “the” seems to be a reference to how the school is ofter referred to as “The Ohio State University”. While I like this logo I do not think it is the best NHL Stadium Series logo. It is definitely an improvement on the 2024 NHL Stadium Series logo. My favorite NHL Stadium Series logo is the 2017 NHL Stadium Series logo. The 2014 NHL Stadium Series logo was great. the 2017 through 2020 logos were amazing.
Ohio Stadium has a capacity of 102,780. With a record attendance of 110,045, it could be the current NHL outdoor game attendance at 105,491. The record was set at the 2014 NHL Winter Classic at Michigan Stadium. That game also featured the Detroit Red Wings. Ohio Stadium has reached over 108,000 in attendance at least ten times all within the last decade. Ohio Stadium is home to the Ohio State Buckeyes. It was also home to the Ohio Glory of the World League of American Football. The Columbus Crew of Major League Soccer also played there for their first few seasons. Ohio stadium opened in 1922. It was renovated in 2000 and 2001. It was expanded in 2014. Some did die at Ohio Stadium on May 5, 2024. A women fell to her death during Ohio States commencement ceremony. The crazy part is the ceremony did not stop and no one acknowledged what happened during the ceremony. It does look like this will be the first time that Ohio Stadium hosts an ice hockey game.
