The ECHL season is starting soon. The NHL season has already started. The AHL season has already started. The ECHL lost the Newfoundland Growlers at the end of last season. The ECHL is welcoming the Tahoe Knight Monsters and the Bloomington Bison this season. Losing a team and gaining two new teams means that the ECHL needed to realign its conferences and divisions. The ECHL had twenty eight teams for the 2023-24 season. The ECHL will have twenty nine teams for the 2024-25 season. Each conference is made up of two divisions. The ECHL Eastern Conference will have fourteen teams. The ECHL Western Conference will have fifteen teams. The ECHL Eastern Conferences North Division will have seven teams. The ECHL Eastern Conferences South Division will have seven teams. The ECHL Western Conferences Central Division will have seven teams. The ECHL Western Conferences Mountain Division will have eight teams. The only division to expand will be the ECHL Western Conference Mountain Division. The top four teams in each division will make the playoffs.

In the ECHL Eastern Conference North Division are the Adirondack Thunder, the Maine Mariners, the Norfolk Admirals, the Reading Royals, the Trois-Rivières Lions, the Worcester Railers, and the Wheeling Nailers. The Newfoundland Growlers were in this division last season. The Wheeling Nailers have taken over their spot. The Wheeling Nailers were in the ECHL Western Conference Central Division last season.

In the ECHL Eastern Conference South Division are the Atlanta Gladiators, Florida Everblades, Greenville Swamp Rabbits, Jacksonville Icemen, Orlando Solar Bears, Savannah Ghost Pirates, and the South Carolina Stingrays. There were no changes to the ECHL Eastern Conference South Division for this season. It is the only ECHL division to not see any change this season.

In the ECHL Western Conference Central Division are the Cincinnati Cyclones, Fort Wayne Komets, Indy Fuel, Iowa Heartlanders, Kalamazoo Wings, Toledo Walleye, and Bloomington Bison. This division lost the Wheeling Nailers to the ECHL Eastern Conference North Division. The expansion team Bloomington Bison take the Wheeling Nailers spot in the ECHL Western Conference Central Division.

In the ECHL Western Conference Mountain Division are the Allen Americans, the Idaho Steelheads, the Kansas City Mavericks, the Rapid City Rush, the Tulsa Oilers, the Utah Grizzlies, the Wichita Thunder, and the Tahoe Knight Monsters. The addition of the Tahoe Knight Monsters is the only change for this division. The Tahoe Knight Monsters are an expansion team this season.
