Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 PM. This will be teddy bear toss night. The teddy bear toss is a hockey tradition dating back to 1993. When the home team scores their first goal of the game, the fans throw stuffed animals on the ice. The stuffed animals are then donated. The Hershey Bears of the AHL currently hold the record with 74,599 stuffed animals thrown in a single game. If anyone is looking to get a stuffed animal for the game, Walmart has stuffed animals for under $3. The Tahoe Knight Monsters are also running a special promotion on Tessie dolls for the game. The stuffed animals have to be new.
The last teddy bear toss I went to in Stockton California at a Stockton Thunder game, they did not score. Everyone threw the stuffed animals as the buzzer rang. That game was in 2015 against the Colorado Avalanche. More recently the Florida Everblades teddy bear toss goal was called off. The Ottawa 67s and the Berrie Colts of the OHL got into a line brawl as the teddy bears were flying onto the ice. Michael Misa of the Saginaw Spirit in the OHL was suspended for trying to shoot stuffed animals back into the crowd.
