The Tahoe Knight Monsters took on the Fort Wayne Komets Saturday. Puck drop was at 7:30 PM. The game was at the Tahoe Blue Event Center in Stateline Nevada. It was the fortieth game of the season. The Tahoe Knight Monsters were coming off of a 2-5 defeat to the Fort Wayne Komets. The Tahoe Knight Monsters had a record of 24-12-3. The Knight Monsters were in 6th place in the ECHL. The Knight Monsters were 2nd in the Western Conference and 1st in the Mountain Division. The Fort Wayne Komets are the ECHL affiliate of the Edmonton Oilers. The Komets had played thirty seven games this season. The Komets were coming off of a 5-2 win over the Tahoe Knight Monsters. The Komets were on a six game winning streak. The Komets had a record of 24-12-1. The Komets were in 8th place in the ECHL. The Komets were in 3rd place in the ECHL Western Conference. His goal was assisted by #29 Matt Murphy.
With four minutes left in the game, Logan Nelson of the Tahoe Knight Monsters received a penalty for delay of game. The final score was 2-0 Tahoe Knight Monsters.
The game was difficult to get too die to snow. I was going to be on time for the game but there was a lot of traffic in Lake Tahoe due to a few accidents. The Fort Wayne Komets have a solid goalie. He blacked back to back breakaways in the second period. He was making solid saves the whole game. The Tahoe Knight Monsters kept taking dumb penalties while only up a goal. After the penalty at the end of the second period, the Komets player left the ice and got into a yelling match with a fan in the tunnel. After the first penalty in the third period, the Knight Monsters shot the puck well after the whistle causing both teams to meet up in the corner. That got to the point where Anthony Collins of the Knight Monsters jumped off the bench and he almost got into a fight. Late in the third period, Brennan Kapcheck of the Knight Monsters was hit pretty hard with the puck in the wrist. He went back to the bench immediately. He didn’t leave the ice. I think he is ok. The Knight Monsters had a lot of chances to score an empty net goal. They were even in the offensive zone with the puck while the net was empty. The Knight Monsters couldn’t get it in. It was a more aggresive game. The Knight Monsters didn’t play into the speed and skill game as much as game one. There were a lot more hits. The Knight Monsters did a lot to slow down the Komets. The Komets winning streak came to and end. The Knight Monsters got their revenge for Friday.
The Tahoe Knight Monsters had three more shots. The Knight Monsters had the better shot percentage. The Knight Monsters had six more penalty minutes. #30 Jordan Papirny saved 25 shots for a 100% save percentage for the Tahoe Knight Monsters. It was his third shutout of the season. #32 Connor Ungar saved 26 shots for a 93% save percentage for the Fort Wayne Komets
