This is the third game of the series. The Tahoe Knight Monsters currently lead the series 2-0. The Knight Monsters were an offensive powerhouse in Wichita. They scored fourteen goals in two games. In both games they scored four or more goals in a single period. This is the best I have seen the Tahoe Knight Monsters play since December. The Wichita Thunder have not had a response for the Knight Monsters. The Thunder are getting back a key player from suspension. Game one saw a great individual effort from Jett Jones of the Knight Monsters. Game two was a great team effort by the Knight Monsters. The Knight Monsters have shown multiple time this season that they can play at a high level consistently. That gets me hopeful for tonights game. However the Thunder will go down swinging. Weather that is trying to score, trying to fight, or trying to injure players. The momentum is all on the Knight Monsters side. That is huge in the playoffs. Special teams have become a big factor in this series. The Knight Monsters were the least penalized team in the ECHL during the regular season. The Thunder took a lot of penalties in the first two games. The Knight Monsters took advantage of that. I think the Knight Monsters will continue to take advantage on the powerplay. The Thunders struggles to stay out of the penalty box will likely continue. That will just lead to more success for the Knight Monsters. Goaltending may improve. The score might be closer. There is nothing from the first two games that gives any indication that the Thunder have what it takes to win this series. The Thunder gave it their all trying to make the playoffs. They might not have any gas left in the tank now that we are in the playoffs. The Knight Monsters have done an excellent job of adjusting to the Thunder since the last three games of the regular season. The San Jose Sharks did not make the playoffs. As a result, they sent players down to the San Jose Barracuda of the AHL for the playoffs. This has raised some concern about the Wichita Thunder receiving AHL players. There are some Kelly Cup qualified players on the San Jose Barracuda roster. It does not look like the Thunder are getting any players from the Barracuda. That is just going off of the ECHL transaction report. I doubt that the Thunder will receive any AHL players fir the 2025 ECHL Kelly Cup Playoffs. The Tahoe Knight Monsters will be looking for 3-0 series lead. The Wichita Thunder are looking for their first playoff win. Both teams have had a couple of days off. Will that be too much of a gap for the Knight Monsters to keep their momentum? Will it be enough time for the Thunder to adjust?
