This is the first game of this series, The Tahoe Knight Monsters are coming off of a great series against the Wichita Thunder. The Knight Monsters offense was on full display. The Knight Monsters blew out the Thunder in the first two games in Wichita. Then won back-to-back games in Tahoe. Both of the games in Tahoe were come from behind victories. The Kansas City Mavericks struggled in the first round against a team they should have beat easily. The Tulsa Oilers barely made the playoffs. The Mavericks were one of the top teams in the ECHL. Yet the Mavericks struggled with the Oilers. The Mavericks had a poor start to that series. Then they failed to close it out in game five. The Mavericks shutout the Oilers twice in the first round but they let the Oilers take an early lead and stay in the series. The Knight Monsters offense has been on fire. Will they be able to keep it up? They took a lot of shots in the first round. I expect that to continue. Their powerplay lead the Knight Monsters to victory in round one. The Knight Monsters powerplay was unstoppable in the first round. Powerplays and powerplay opportunities led to tying and game winning goals in game three and game four in the first round. They Knight Monsters will need to keep that up if they want to win in this round of the playoffs. The Knight Monsters stayed out of the penalty box in the first round. They are currently the least penalized team in the 2025 Kelly Cup Playoffs. They will need to continue to stay out of the box to find success against the Mavericks. The Mavericks have scored a lot of goals in the regular season like the Knight Monsters. The big difference in this series is the lack of goals allowed during the regular season for the Mavericks. Both teams have solid offensive power. The Mavericks can also play defense. However the Mavericks defense was not consistent during the first round of the 2025 Kelly Cup Playoffs. They were getting shutouts in one game then allowing a bunch of goals the next game. Consistancy will be a key factor in this series. The Knight Monsters consistently played at a high level during the first round. The Mavericks did not play consistent at all in the first round. Who will start off this series with a lead. Going back to the regular season, both teams played close games for the most part. Four of their six regular season meeting were a one goal game. They have not played each other since February. It is like playing completely different teams now. The gap since playing each other may effect play early in the series. Will the Knight Monsters offense prevail? Will the Mavericks defensive force be to strong?
