The Knight Monsters have shown consistency throughout the season and were looking to build on their momentum. On the other side, the Utah Grizzlies, the ECHL affiliate of the Colorado Avalanche, came into the game ranked seventh in the division with a 13-15-3 record. Utah was be eager to close the gap in the standings and play spoiler against one of the division’s top teams.

The Tahoe Knight Monsters entered this matchup in search of their twentieth win of the season, with a chance to secure back-to-back victories and build some momentum. A win would also help the Knight Monsters continue their climb up the division standings as they pushed deeper into the playoff race. Every point matters at this stage of the season, and Tahoe was focused on making a strong statement against a divisional opponent. Meanwhile, the Utah Grizzlies were chasing their fourteenth win of the season and were desperate to snap a three-game losing streak. Sitting near the bottom of the division, Utah was searching for anything that could spark a turnaround and help them gain ground in the standings.
