Eight minutes into the game, the Tahoe Knight Monsters took the lead. With under five minutes left in the opening period, Kansas City was given a four minute minor penalty for high-sticking. On the power play, Tahoe scored to take a two-goal lead. With under three minutes left in the first period, Tahoe was called for hooking. On the power play, Kansas City scored to cut the lead down to one goal. The score was 2-1 after the first period.

Three minutes into the second period, the Kansas City Mavericks scored to tie the game. Just after the goal, the Tahoe Knight Monsters were ok a penalty for hooking. Eight minutes into the second period, the Mavericks were called for holding. The Knight Monsters and the Mavericks then both took penalties for holding and unsportsmanlike conduct. With three minutes left in the period, Kansas City was called for roughing. With less than a minute left in the period, Tahoe was called for holding. The score was tied at 2-2 going into the final frame

Three minutes into the third period, the Tahoe Knight Monsters were called for high-sticking. Six minutes into the period, the Kansas City Mavericks were called for high-sticking. Midway through the final period, the Knight Monsters took the lead. Kansas City was then given fifteen minutes in penalties for spearing. With under a minute left in the game the Knight Monsters scored an empty net goal to take a two goal lead. The final score was 4-2, Tahoe Knight Monsters.
