The Tahoe Knight Monsters are the ECHL affiliate of the Vegas Golden Knights. The Tahoe Knight Monsters were coming off back-to-back wins over the Toledo Walleye. The Rapid City Rush were in seventh place in the division with a record of 25-31-5. The Rapid City Rush are the ECHL affiliate of the Calgary Flames. The Rapid City Rush were coming off a loss to the Kalamazoo Wings.
Four minutes into the game, the Rapid City Rush were called for holding the stick. At the same time, the Tahoe Knight Monsters were called for roughing. Eight minutes into the third period, the Knight Monsters scored to tie the game. with under nine minutes left in the game, Tahoe were called for tripping. With six minutes left in the game, the Rapid City Rush were called for high-sticking. On the power play, the Knight Monsters scored to take the lead. Seventeen seconds after Tahoe took the lead, the Rush tied the game. With under four minutes left in the game, the Rush scored to retake the lead. With wuner thirty seconds left in the game, the Rush scored an empty net goal to take a two-goal lead. The final score was 5-3, Rapid City Rush.
