Day 7 | XXIV Olympic Winter Games | Beijing 2022

We are now one week into the XXIV Olympic Winter Games being held in Beijing China. I do not have any updates on the treatment of athletes at the olympics. At this point it seem like nothing has changed. Alpine Skiing, Biathlon, Cross-Country Skiing, Curling, Figure Skating, Freestyle Skiing, Women’s Ice Hockey, Luge, Nordic Combined, Skeleton, Snowboard, and Speed Skating took place. Medals were handed out for Alpine Skiing, Biathlon, Cross-Country Skiing, Curling, Freestyle Skiing, Luge, Snowboard, and Speed Skating.

In Alpine Skiing they had the Men’s Super-G competition. Austrias Matthias Mayer won gold. The United States Ryan Cochran-Siegle won silver. Norways Aleksander Aamodt Kilde won bronze. The United States also finished in 12th, 15th, and 17th. Alpine Skiing continues tonight.

In the Biathlon they had the Men’s 20km Individual. Frances Quentin Fillon Maillet won gold. Belaruses Anton Smolski won silver. Norways Johnnes Thingnes Boe won bronze. The United States came in at 28th, 35th, 42nd, and 87th. Biathlon will continue on the 11th.

Cross-Country Skiing saw the Women’s and Men’s Sprint Free Finals.

In the Women’s Sprint Free Finals, Swedens Jonna Sundling won gold. Swedens Maja Dahlqvist won silver. The United States Jessie Diggins won bronze. The United States also came in 4th place.

In the Men’s Sprint Free Finals, Norways Johannes Hoesflot Klaebo won gold. Italys Federico Pellegrino won silver. ROC(Russia) Alexander Terentev won bronze.

Cross-County Skiing will continue on the 9th.

Curling Continued mixed doubles has finished. Italy defeated Norway in the gold medal game. Sweden defeated Great Britain in the bronze medal game. Italy won gold. Norway won silver. Sweden won bronze.

Curling will continue tonight in the AM.

Figure Skating saw some men’s singles short program skating. Chinas Ailing Eileen GU won gold. She is another American competing for China. She is 18 and has been competing for China since she was 15. Frances Tess Ledeux won silver. Switzerlands Mathilde Gremaud won bronze.

Figure Skating will continue will continue tonight with the Men’s Singles Skating – Free Skating on the 9th.

Freestyle Skiing had the Women’s Big Air Competition. Chinas Ailing Eileen GU won gold. She is another American competing for China. She is 18 and has been competing for China since she was 15. Frances Tess Ledeux won silver. Switzerlands Mathilde Gremaud won bronze. The United Sates came in 22nd.

Freestyle skiing will continue tonight with the Men’s big air.

In the Women’s Hockey tournament they completed the group stage. Again I will go in depth on this in a later post.

Luge continued with Doubles Training Runs and the Women’s Singles competition. In the Women’s Singles Germanys Natalie Geisenberger won gold. Germanys Anna Berreiter won silver. ROC (Russia) Tatyana Ivanova won bronze. The United States came in 12th. Luge Continues tonight.

In Snow Boarding they had the Women’s and Men’s Parallel Giant Slalom events.

In the Women’s Parallel Giant Slalom Czech Republics Ester Ledecka won gold. Austrias Daniela Ulbing won silver. Slovenias Gloria Kotnik won bronze.

In the Men’s Parallel Giant Slalom Austrias Benjamin Karl won gold. Slovenias Tim Mastnak won silver. ROC (Russia) Victor Wild won bronze.

Snowboarding continues tonight.

Speed Skating had the Mens 15000m competition. Netherlands Kjeld Nuis won gold. Netherlands Thomas Krol won silver. Republic of Koreas Minseok Kim won bronze. The United States came in 6th, 11th, and 28th.

Sweden remains in the lead with 4 gold medals. Netherlands are in 2nd. China is now in 3rd. The United States is all the way in 17th. The United States has yet to win a gold medal. Canada sits in 11th. The United States and Canada not in the top 5 7 days in is surprising.

ROC (Russia) leads the overall with 10 medals. Norway is in 2nd. Netherlands are in 3rd. Canada is tied for 6th. The United States is tied for 8th.

The United States have 5 total medals. 4 silver. 1 bronze. Canada has 6 total medals. 1 gold. 1 silver. 4 bronze.
