The Women’s Ice Hockey tournament at the XXIV Olympic Winter games continued. There was only one game played. Finland took on Switzerland in the bronze medal game. The winner would win bronze. The loser wouldn’t get anything for their efforts in this tournament. The gold medal game will be tonight between the United States and Canada.
Finland vs Switzerland. Bronze medal game. Finland came in third in Group A. They had a record of 1-3-0 in the group stage. Finland lost 4-1 to the United States in the Quarterfinals. Switzerland came in last in Group A. They had a record of 0-3-0. Switzerland lost 10-3 to Canada in the Quarterfinals. Finland would score the only goal of the first period. Neither team would score in the second period. It was 1-0 Finland going into the third period. Finland expanded their lead to two goals 3 minutes into the third period. Finland would score two more times in the third period. Finland would win the game 4-0.


Finland shutout Switzerland. They outshot them by a lot. Finland scored two powerplay goals and one shorthanded goal. I don’t think there was any doubt that Finland would win this game. Finland are now bronze medalists.
