2022 Olympic Men’s Ice Hockey. The tournament has now completed. Ice Hockey is finished at the 2022 Olympics. I wasn’t able to get a post out about this yesterday. I will be briefly covering the bronze medal game. That game was between Slovakia and Sweden. The gold medal game was between Finland and ROC (Russia). This is the first time in a while if ever that both the United States and Canada have not won a medal in Men’s Ice Hockey.

Slovakia wins bronze. Sweden gets 4th place and no medal. Slovakia gets the shutout. Not sure what went wrong for Sweden but they just couldn’t make it happen. This is the first time Slovakia has won a medal in Olympic Men’s Ice Hockey. Prior to this the highest they ever finished was 4th during Vancouver 2010.
Gold medal game. Finland vs ROC (Russia). Finland came in first in Group C. They had a record of 3-0-0 in the group stage. ROC (Russia) came in first in Group B. They had a record of 2-0-1 in the group stage.
Finland took a penalty for high sticking 6 minutes into the game. ROC (Russia) would score less than 20 seconds into the powerplay. ROC (Russia) then took a penalty for cross-checking. Finland didn’t score on the powerplay. ROC (Russia) took a 1-0 lead into the second period.
13 minutes into the second period Finland tied the game. ROC (Russia) took a penalty for elbowing late in the second period. The game was tied at 1-1 heading into the third period. Gold medal on the line and the last 20 minutes in regulation in the tournament could decided who wins it all.

ROC (Russia) would pull their goalie with less than a minute to go. With less than 20 seconds left in the game a timeout was called. Finland would be able to hold on to their lead.
