Sam Reinhard added to the Panthers lead early in the second period. David Krejci scored to get the Bruins back with in one goal on the powerplay. The score was 2-1 Panthers going into the third period.

The Panthers won the series 4-3. The Panthers advance to round two. The Presidents Trophy winning Bruins are now out of the playoffs.

This is a huge upset. Not just because the number eight seed beat the number one seed. This is a huge upset because on their way to winning the Presidents Trophy for having the best record in the NHL regular season, the Bruins beat the record for most points and wins in a single season. To have the Panthers beat the clear favorites after barely making the playoffs is historical. This will be a big part of Panthers lore for many years to come. The Bruins had the chance to win the series three times and didn’t. That will speak volumes for what the Panthers are able to do. That will also haunt the Bruins throughout the offseason and next season.

Recapping the series the Bruins won game one 3-1. The Panthers won game two 6-3. The Bruins won game three 4-2. The Bruins won game four 6-2. The Panthers won game five 4-3 in overtime. The Panthers won game six 7-5. The Panthers won game seven 4-3 in overtime.

The Florida Panthers will play the Toronto Maple Leafs in round two.

Oliver Bjorkstrand scored the first goal in game seven to give the Kraken the lead. He scored again to add to their lead. Mikko Rantanen scored late in the second period to put the avalanche within one goal.

Neither team scored in the third period. The Avalanche did have a goal called off after an offsides challenge. The final score was 2-1 Kraken. The Seattle Kraken have eliminated the defending champion Colorado Avalanche. The Seattle Kraken are moving on to round two. The Colorado Avalanches playoff journey has come to an end.

This is Seattles first ever playoff series. They got their first ever series win over the defending champions. That a big win for the new franchise. Colorado like Boston collapsed in the first round after having a solid regular season. Seattle is now on the map as a good team. They can no longer fly under the radar. I thought it would be an easy series for Colorado. Seattle proved to be a lot better than I thought.

To recap the series the Kraken won game won 3-1 for their first ever playoff win in their first ever playoff game. The Avalanche won game two 3-2. The Avalanche won game three 6-4. The Kraken won game four 3-2 in overtime. The Kraken won game five 3-2. The Avalanche won game six 4-1. The Kraken won game seven 2-1.

The Seattle Kraken will now play the Dallas Stars in round two.
