We are now seventeen days into the Stanley Cup Playoffs. There was two games yesterday. In the Eastern Conference the Carolina Hurricanes played the New Jerseys. In the Western Conference the Vegas Golden Knights played the Edmonton Oilers.
The playoffs continue tonight with two more games.

It was round two game one for the Carolina Hurricanes and New Jersey Devils series. Brett Pesce scored the opeing goal to put the Hurricanes on top. Seth Jarvis added to that lead. The Hurricanes took a 1-0 lead after the first period.
Jesper Kotkaniemi score to add to the Hurricanes lead early in the second period. Nathan Bastian scored to get the Devils back to down by just two goals. The score was 3-1 Hurricanes heading into the third period.
Brady Skjei scored fot the Hurricanes. Jesper Fasted then scored for the Hurricanes. The Final score was 5-1 Hurricanes. The Carolina Hurricanes now have a 1-0 series lead over the New Jersey Devils.


Carolina dominated this game. They didn’t give New Jersey anything. Carolina put the pressure on New Jersey and didn’t let up. How will the Devils respond in game two? Will the Hurricanes continue to dominate this series?

The Vegas Golden Knights and Edmonton Oilers also played their first game of their round two series yesterday. The Oilers got the lead with a goal from Leon Draisaitl on the powerplay. Ivan Barbashev scored to tie the game. Michael Amadio scored to give the Golden Knights the lead. Mark Stone scored on the powerplay to add to that lead. Leon Draisaitl scored again to get the Oilers back within one goal. The score after the first period was 3-2 Golden Knights.
Neither tea scored in the second period. The score remained 3-2 Golden Knights heading into the third period.
Leon Draisaitl scored again completing the hat trick and tying the game on the powerplay. Ivan Barbashev scored again to give the Golden Knights the lead. Chandler Stephenson scored to to add to the Golden Knights lead. Leon Draisaitl scored again for his fourth goal of the game to bring the Oilers back to within one goal. Jack Eichel scored on the powerplay at the end of the game to give the Golden Knights a two goal lead. His goal would seal the deal for the Golden Knights. The final score was 6-4 Golden Knights. The Vegas Golden Knights now have a 1-0 series lead.


What a game. There was a lot of scoring. Vegas with the surprise here was able to keep up with the Oilers scoring. Leon Draisaitl’s four goals also marks back to back days where a player has scored four goals in a single playoff game. Edmonton will need more than just Leon Draisaitl scoring to win this series though. Can the Golden Knights maintain this kind of scoring? What will the Oilers response be in game two?

Round two game twos start today. Will the Maple Leafs respond in game two? Will the Panthers continue to play at this level? Will the Stars respond in game two? Will the Kraken prove to be too hot to handle?
As of writing this the Panthers are leading the Maple Leafs in game two.


The Vegas Golden Knights, Carolina Hurricanes, Dallas Stars, Toronto Maple Leafs, Edmonton Oilers, Florida Panthers, Seattle Kraken, and New Jersey Devils have advanced to round two. The Winnipeg Jets, New York Islanders, Minnesota Wild, Tampa Bay Lightning, Los Angeles Kings, Boston Bruins, Colorado Avalanche, and New York Rangers have been eliminated.
The Vegas Golden Knights will play the Edmonton Oilers in round two. The Carolina Hurricanes will play the New Jersey Devils in round two. The Dallas Stars will play the Seattle Kraken in round two. The Toronto Maple Leafs will play the Florida Panthers in round two.
